My friends and I recently visited this place during my bachelorette trip last week. It was around 1pm, we had spent the morning shopping around outside and stopped here for lunch. It took approx 10 minutes for our server to even come around to introduce herself & ask for our drinks. It seemed to look like she was the only server for inside AND outside tables. I understand being short staffed, but it’s fairly easy to relay that message to your tables. Then the power went out for about the same amount of time. The server never once stopped by the table to let us know the approx wait time for the power to resume. We had 2 kids under 2 and at this point we’re just ready to get something a bit quicker. The temperature in the restaurant started rising as the AC was off. The power ended up coming back on. When we were given our drinks, mine only had a splash of ice. After about 10 more minutes had gone by, I asked for the check because I don’t see 30 minutes being an acceptable time between being seated at an establishment, and placing your order. When the server returned with the check, it was all combined on one. Had we all gotten a round of sodas, I would’ve been okay with it. But we had drinks ranging from water, to soda, to mixed drinks. There is no equal split to that. When the waitress handed me the combined bill, I immediately went to the manager to get it resolved. Instead of using proper customer service and saying “Im sorry to hear about your experience, I will get the bill separated and correct” but instead she asked ME if I told the SERVER I wanted it separate… Typically when someone asks for the check the server then replies and says “together or separate”. When the manager finally brought over our checks, I asked her if the server was going to acknowledge her poor performance or not, and the manager said she didn’t think her and I should interact anymore… even though I never once said a word out of character to her. I then began to explain I’m on my bachelorette trip and am upset this is the service we’ve received, in which she responded “this is a tourist town” as if I’m one in a million going there. I lived in Ocean Isle Beach, a tourist town, and I can guarantee you won’t be treated like that by any server. I then began to explain we had 2 kids under 2 who have not ate yet, and her response was “I have kids too.” I was mortified by this experience, and it didn’t need to come to a disruption in the establishment had the manager handled the situation with a...
Read moreVERY POOR SERVICE AT THE BAR When we first sat at the bar, the bartender was chit chatting with two women, whom I sat beside. Because I was sitting beside them, I could hear that it was just chit chat and not work related. The bartender continued to talk with them for 3 - 4 minutes, before even acknowledging us. Once she did acknowldege us, she did bring us menus to look at. And we sat for another 10 minutes - waiting for someone to bring us a glass of water, to take our drink order, etc, - before we decided we might have better luck getting service if we were seated at a table. When we left the bar, the other bartender now was talking with these two women. We waited 5 - 10 minutes for a table, after leaving the bar; and when we were finally seated, that same bartender was still standing around and talkig with these two women. We understand having to wait for service when an establishment is busy and understaffed, but not when the staff is just standing around talking instead of serving customers.
THE HOSTESSES WERE VERY RUDE When we asked the hostess for a table after leaving the bar, I told her that we had decided to be seated a table because we were not getting service at the bar. I was not rude, I did not yell, I did not ask to speak to the manager. I just simply commented about why we were moving from the bar to a table. The hostess just glared at me. When we were seated at a table, the employee who seated us stopped to stare at me, look me up and down, before walking off.
WHEN A RESTAURANT IN THE NASHVILLE AREA HAS A GOOGLE RATING OF 4.3 - 4.4 LIKE THIS ONE - IT WILL BE HIT OR MISS WHAT KIND OF EXPERIENCE YOU HAVE AT THE RESTAURANT. My friend and I live locally, and we are in Downtown Nashville a lot. Most restaurants that are really good and worth the money, are restaurants that have a 4.7 Google rating or higher. The only reason my friend and I came here was because I wanted to compare The Pub to Fleet Street in Printer's Alley. There are many small restaurants in the Nashville area that have better food and better service with no bad attitude. Many of them are struggling and would be more than happy to have...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I were on a date night, which is important to us, and really wanted fish and chips. We don’t take one often because we have kids, so we want a nice experience for both of us. It was easy getting parking and we made our way to the table and sat up by the windows far from the bar at the other end. The fish and chips were delightful, but then….came an unreasonably loud shrieking voice over ridiculously loud speakers for trivia night. It was piercing. His voice was filling up this huge place and then the music was just way too much. It was a Monday night. We’d never been before. No one warned us, such as the host, it was Trivia night and that it’d start at 7. That it’d be incredibly loud and hard to hear. It was so loud we had to take our dessert to go very quickly and insistently. I had to literally plug my ears. It caused excessive sensory overload. We couldn’t enjoy our date and it was a huge disappointment. There was absolutely no need for the loudness. I’m 42. I’m not some old person complaining because I’m grumpy. The sound was just literally way too high. I saw other tables also flench with every loud word and echo across the room and then leave. Please warn your guests that trivia is loud before you sit them down. Also, there is no need to fill up your entire large building with such loud speakers. Isolate Trivia to one area where people can play. And for god sakes, turn down the volume. Three stars for the...
