I had high hopes for this grand opening and made an 8:30 PM reservation, arriving at 8:20 and checking in right on time. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start and didn’t reflect the level of service you’d expect from a new restaurant trying to make a strong first impression.
At check-in, we were told to “give her a few minutes,” so we understood there might be a short wait — which we were fine with. However, we ended up waiting well over 30 minutes with no clear updates or communication. What made matters worse was watching guests who arrived after us get seated first. It felt disorganized and as if our reservation didn’t matter.
The only reason we were finally seated was because another host stepped in and spoke up. He approached the stand and said — and I quote — “Hey, these girls have been waiting a long time. I’m sending them immediately.” He overruled the young woman in a copper-toned cardigan, who appeared to be the head host. That moment made it clear that our delay could have been avoided, and that there was a serious lack of coordination among staff.
Once we were finally seated and greeted by our server Felix, we immediately placed our full order — both food and drinks — knowing it was a grand opening and things might move slowly. Unfortunately, our food arrived before our drinks did. Felix didn’t acknowledge or apologize for the delay. We had to ask two other servers, a gentleman assisting other tables, and even a manager to check on our drinks. It genuinely felt like our table was being overlooked.
The vibe of the night was upbeat — loud music, dancing, managers handing out shots and champagne — but that energy didn’t carry over into the actual guest experience. While other tables were receiving celebratory touches, we weren’t offered the same experience or attentiveness.
To add to the frustration, valet service — which was advertised — was nonexistent. We arrived early, expecting that convenience, but no attendants were present.
I really want to support new restaurants and understand that grand openings can come with growing pains. I’m open to returning once they’ve worked out the kinks. But for a first visit, this was a letdown. The inconsistency in service, the long delay despite a reservation, and the lack of attention to guest experience all need...

Last night’s grand opening at V Modern Italian was not just bad — it was an outright insult to anyone unfortunate enough to walk through their doors.
From start to finish, the experience reeked of laziness, incompetence, and a total lack of respect for the customers who, frankly, deserved better than this dumpster fire of an operation. The hosts looked like they’d been dragged off the street five minutes before opening. The servers had all the enthusiasm of people working their last shift before quitting. And management — assuming they weren’t hiding under a table — was completely nonexistent.
Waiting with a reservation, being ignored for half an hour, having our orders butchered, and then being treated like we were the problem? That’s not just poor service — that’s an establishment that genuinely shouldn’t be in business.
Food came before cocktails, that we practically had to beg for. I asked 3 people for black pepper. Server never came back to check on us. Reservation meant nothing.
We watched a certain demographic of people get catered to all night, while we were blatantly ignored.
It wasn’t opening night jitters; it was total organizational failure, fueled by arrogance and utter apathy.
V Modern Italian clearly thought they could slap a trendy name on a half-baked concept and cash in. Here’s a reality check: Nashville isn’t stupid, and we don’t reward contempt for customers. You get one shot to make a first impression in this city. V Modern Italian took that shot, aimed it squarely at their own feet, and pulled the trigger — twice.
Do yourself a favor: Spend your money somewhere that actually wants you there. NASHVILLE NATIVE
I Waited nearly a week for a response as to what the truffle pasta was supposed to be versus what I received! This place is just awful!
Now we all can agree that the truffle pasta that I ordered looks nothing like the truffle pasta I should have received! Mine didn’t have a...
Read moreI had made reservations here for my husband‘s birthday. When we arrived, we were seated and started to take the place in as well as the menu. The wine list was all right, and the food seemed good. They had a few options. We would like the noise level was pretty loud with the amount of people there was and the music playing, but you can still hear each other. While we waited for some friends to join us, we experienced countless waiters pass us by with no acknowledgment or greeting. We continued to wait and while we did, we noticed that the glassware was absolutely filthy. I’m not just talking about a water stain that may have been missed, I’m talking, grease lipstick, stains, and water stains. It was gross, and not what we were expecting at all. I personally was mortified, because my husband had brought a really nice bottle of wine to drink, and it was his birthday and we don’t really get to go out to dinners too much because of travel and work and I was really bummed that this was how our night was starting out. My husband suggested we get out of there. At that point a waiter still hadn’t approached us. I was disgusted enough that I didn’t even want to hail someone down to replace all of the glasses on the table. We left and went to another restaurant we had been to About a year prior that was absolutely delicious and service was on point, And went there instead. I’m sorry, V Modern, I know you’re a new restaurant and you have a ton of people coming to your restaurant on a daily basis, But precisely because of this, your staff needs to be on point because clients that walk in to your restaurant ready to spend money are walking advertisements for your place. Sadly, I can’t recommend...
