Decided to come have a drink while my friend and I waited on a table at Otaku. Met the bartender or manager in the elevator on the way up and he was very nice and told us to take a seat inside or out and someone would greet us. We got a table in the front high tops on the rooftop where one party was leaving and another 2 top sat right before we did. Before I go into detail, the rooftop part isn't anything to write home about. A lot smaller than I envisioned and blah ambience. But we were seated and waiting to be served and after a few minutes I acknowledged no one had come to greet me or the guests next to us. So as a previous server, I usually take stock of how many servers are on the floor so I can manage my expectations. I counted 3 servers and not one acknowledged us or the other guests. Which was funny because we were sitting right in the front high tops right next to the doors. So unless your vision is fixed to filter out black faces I'm not sure why we couldn't get much of a " "hello" or "hi, I'm so and so and I'll be with you in a moment". So all three ladies kept tending to other guests until a wasted patron hit the outside heater next to us and knocking it off. I was not going to be ignored and cold so we got one of the server's (blonde woman) attention to inform her what happened and if she could turn it back on. She said she had to go inside and get the key to turn the gas on...which she does right away. She comes back and fixes it which I then ask "are we supposed to go inside to be served?" At this point she says "oh no, no one has come up to you yet?" Which either informs me she's a terrible server, there are no seating charts for the servers, or they all would rather ignore black people than make money. Maybe a combination of all three, not sure. She takes our order and I also inform her the black guests to right of us have also been ignored. She brought our drinks our VERY quickly LOL but it's very annoying that all that had to happen. Won't be coming back here. So many other roof top options in Nashville that have better Views and I'm sure...
Read moreWe were really looking forward to our reservations at this place. Fair warning, it is in a hotel and the parking is self parking and it’s $36. We did get seated early which we were appreciative of, but we were told to choose our seat at a fireplace table. My friend pulled out her chair and it was sopping wet with water. Completely soaked her outfit. After that, we asked if the table fireplace could be set on. We were told that “No, we can’t do that, sorry!” They were obviously embarrassed that we sat in puddles. We moved tables because, no, and we got drinks and an app ordered. The drinks were hit and miss, mine tasted like NyQuil but others liked theirs. Our app never came before our main course was served. Our server never wrote our order down? I would assume because she did not write this down? It had been over 40 minutes of being seated and no app, no food. Food was finally served. Two people in out party ordered the Mac and cheese burger. One burger was honestly inedible and broken into small pieces, kind of like a crushed up meatball. It was honestly sad for $16. My Mac and cheese Skillet was supposed to be flavorful and have pickles, it was bland, cold, grease covered, and had no pickles. We maybe had one follow up visit from our waitress the entire stay, and that was her realizing that our app never came. When app arrived, it was ice cold, and microwaves? Microwaved Nachos is honestly criminal. Nothing was comped, nothing was offered, this was just a very sour experience. Our waitress also said “If you want to leave a tip, you should leave cash because if you leave it on your card, I don’t get any of it, only the kitchen gets it”. Well, I’m glad I left cash because the kitchen didn’t deserve anything with what we have been dealing with. Two of us have food poisoning and are very sick to our stomach. This was a very negative experience and we were really disappointed that this ruined our Friday night downtown NVL plans, my birthday, and...
Read moreI visited UP last night with a friend that had just come back in town for a drink. We arrived at the bar & no one greeted us for about 5-10min while we just sat there waiting to get service.(it was not busy, there were only 4 other customers at the bar) Eventually we got Tony’s attention & were able to ask for a menu. Once we looked over the menu we sat there for another 5-10min waiting for Tony to acknowledge us & take our order but instead he tended to the other customers who had already been taken care of. My friend had to get the attention of the female bar tender to get our order taken. At that point we were very frustrated & honestly I didn’t want to give the establishment my money at that point but I did anyway since we were already there. I hate to make it a discrimination thing but, that’s exactly how I felt especially since we were the only African Americans at the bar at the time & we literally had to ask for service. In any establishment, I would think that customer service is the most simple but vital part of someone’s job but apparently Tony doesn’t believe in that. I just wanted to show my friend a good time & welcome her to Nashville but that experience was tainted by the horrible customer service we received from Tony. I will not be returning to this establishment & if you’re a minority I would think twice about going here unless you enjoy being discriminated against by bar...
