SUMMARY. Lively bar at the heart of my favorite neighborhood in Nashville: Germantown. Beer garden style table seating (think lunch tables) with tons of beer and great food! Highly recommend!
RESERVATION. No reservation required. They may take them, I'm not sure, but I've never made one and never have had a problem.
AMBIENCE. Very lively. What you would expect from from an American-style beer garden. The crowd skews to the young side (definitely a lot of Vanderbilt undergraduates and probably other students a well), but it is by no means a college bar. I know plenty of all ages who frequent this spot.
LOCATION. Location is in the heart of Germantown, which is my favorite neighborhood in Nashville and just north of downtown. Parking is not terrible if you drive down a couple of blocks and park for free on 4th or 5th. Can't beat it!
QUALITY. Quality is good. It's not an upscale sit-down restaurant, but for being a beer garden their food is still very good. I recommend the Brussels sprouts. I've been there when they've run out of them, so apparently I'm not the only one who enjoys them! Either way, you can't go wrong with any of the numerous types of beer they have!
SERVICE. Service can be spotty but is generally very good. It's a hectic place, so I've been there before when it's been packed and difficult to track down a server. Still, considering the crowds, they do a very good job in my opinion. The upshot is that you'll never have to wait long for beer, as you can order it straight from the bar!
VALUE. Value is great. My girlfriend and I recently split an appetizer and had two drinks apiece for ~$55 all-in w/ tax and tip. I was thrilled.
TAKEAWAYS. Lively beer garden at the heart of Germantown with great beer and food at a reasonable price. I've been several times, and I'll surely be back...
Read moreWe recently had brunch here for a bachelorette party. I called a week ahead to get a feel for how busy brunch gets since they don't accept reservations, and the gal I spoke with said it's gets SUPER busy, so you'll want to get here right at 10:00 if you don't want to wait forever. Sure - no problem! So, we were parked by 9:45, but waited in the car until 10:00 since there wasn't a line. When we went to the door at 10:00, it was still locked, and the lady inside just glared at us and then walked away. 3-4 mins later, she came back and just unlocked the door and walked away. I really would have thought she'd swing it open and be like "c'mon in!" or something...... Our party of 10 was seated at the very first table, but were then corrected and told we all had to scrunch to one end of the table because another party would be seated with us. We were literally THE ONLY table in the restaurant. So, we ordered drinks and brunch. The big mimosas and bloody marys were "ok", several of our food orders came out wrong and had to be sent back. The food was generally okay once corrected....the hashbrown casserole was pretty good, everything else was just "ok". Definitely not what i was expecting for a place "known for their brunch". The staff was generally just pretty unwelcoming. It took at solid 2 hours and I had to go find out server to ask for our checks as we were now running late to our salon appts down the street. When we left, they MAYBE had 10 other parties in the restaurant; so it's not like they were just slammed and that was the reason for our unfortunate experience. Also, no one else was ever seated at the other end of our table...so it was fairly pointless to be so rude about 10 of us squeezing into half a table. I don't think we'll be revisiting...
Read moreMe and my girlfriend visited this restaurant during our trip down to Tennessee this most recent Sunday, October 23rd. The online reviews looked great and the business itself seemed very solid. Parking was awful, had to pay at least $15 just to park and almost got charged $20 instead because there was an event going on at the nearby stadium. We chose to ignore this and go anyways. The wait was short despite being very busy, so that was a good start. The staff were well mannered and efficient as well. The issue here was with the food. I ordered a wood grilled burger, same as my girlfriend. She wanted hers to be juicer, so cooked a little less. I ordered mine well done, and ended up with a burger that was more pink than hers was. I elected to ignore this because I figured, busy day, common order mistake right? Well I should not have ignored this, and I regret not speaking up. Since last night I have not been able to keep any food or liquid down, and have had all symptoms of bacterial food poisoning, including intense repetitive vomiting and almost non-stop diarrhea. I've also had to leave my shift early at my new job (boss understands, but I still get an attendance point penalty for this and lose out on the rest of my shift pay.) I'm up to 14 bathroom uses today and am now heading to my clinic to make sure I don't need an IV to keep hydrated, as any drink goes straight through with heavy pain. I'm not looking for reparations or to make someone's life hell. But whoever cooked that burger needs to be trained again so nobody else has to go through this. Best experience here was my waiter. Not gonna mention names because I don't want them repremended for...
