I have 2 different reviews based on my two dining experiences. The first time…
I was so excited to try this place but my experience left me underwhelmed. I'll start with what I did enjoy which was the margarita. It comes with an egg white froth which I've never had with a margarita before and that was a great touch. I originally asked the server to help me decide between the entrana and the entrana gruesa steaks. He told me that I should get neither and I should get the picanha steak which is wagyu. I took his recommendation and ordered it medium. I also ordered the short rib Mac and cheese as my side. When the food came out they were getting everyone mixed up and causing a little confusion so when I saw my steak looking very much not medium I was hoping they gave me the wrong order. They claimed it was mine but it was 100% overcooked. I didn't feel like waiting for a new one so I just ate it. Very unimpressed and the wagyu was super tough. The macaroni was okay. I had to ask for salt because it was bland and I also can't guarantee there was any short rib in it. But yeah, it's nowhere Id be running back to. Side note, my friend got the entrana and it was so much better than the picanha I let the server talk me in to.
Then I went back again to decide where the first time was a fluke. But, unfortunately it’s still just an okay place to me. This time I ordered the Caesar salad which was different. The presentation was nice but it didn’t quite taste like a Caesar to me. Judging as a Caesar I’d give 5/10 but as just a salad it would be 7.5/10. The truffle fries were perfectly cooked and the aioli was tasty. I got the entrana steak this time and it was just okay. My husband got the rib eye and it was also just okay, lacking in seasoning/flavor. The mashed potatoes were excellent and cheesy and the short rib macaroni was better and more meaty this time. But, overall it’s just not a place I think I’ll be...
Read moreWas my first time coming. Came for a dinner party, we prepaid. Three course menu, everything that we got on all 3 plates, wasn’t enough food to fill up a regular size plate. The empanadas were a little over cooked. Our steak/carrot/mash potato MAIN entree .. they gave us one carrot, a few slices of steak, and two bites of mash potatoes, and it was cold. The cheesecake we ordered, was more like a drop of mousse, and it tasted bitter. None of us finished it. We each paid $95 for one empanada, one carrot & a few bites of meat, and for a drop of mousse. Everyone mostly ordered one drink a few ordered 2, but very pricey drinks like $20 a drink. Drink tab came up to like $300. It was less than 20 of us in a private room. We weren’t ordering drinks throughout the night we just all ordered one drink at once. I ordered one $7 beer. They included everyone’s drink in one drink receipt, they charged a $111 automatic gratuity for it. So I had to end up tipping more than I actually paid for a $7 beer to fulfill the bill since they didn’t want to give everyone the opportunity to pay for their own drinks, it was a lot of confusion. Would’ve definitely got better value, more food, a better experience at FOGO right down the street for half the price. And they would’ve let us all split the bill and pay for our own things regardless of party size. Was beautiful on the inside, and the service was ok, aside from the fact the a few of the girls complained about being hit one by some of the waiters. Would not go back. After have been being seated for 3 hours, and having extremely small portions, we ironically went to Waffle House after since we were starving. Spent $150 on expensive food, only to go to Waffle...
Read moreI will start with how beautiful this place is, literally makes you happy just walking in. A group of friends and I met for an early dinner during their restaurant week. This being my first time at Brasa I was excited to try it. Our server Lawson was pretty underwhelming and seemed like he either didn’t want to be there or maybe his caffeine hadn’t kicked in yet. Us being the group of customer service/industry people we are, we gave him grace and tried to make him smile, until we noted to him that our second round of espresso martinis didn’t taste like the first round and may have been made with vodka instead of tequila as requested. He insisted that they were tequila and would double check. We all passed our drinks around and all but 1 was most definitely different. He checked on us again and we mentioned the drinks again and he unapologetically insisted that it was tequila, never offered a remake, another drink, or any resolution, just that maybe the 3 that tasted different were probably prepared together. When we got our checks mine specifically noted “guest did not like”. How rude to acknowledge my dislike but not try to resolve to ensure I have a pleasant experience. It really is unfortunate because New Orleans is becoming known for not having great customer service. I frequent the same places normally with amazing service and hadn’t experienced...
