PLEASE READ!! EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL Staff and Management. On 6/30/17 I was verbally attacked by one of the cocktail waitress. It was so bad I felt as though she was about to physically attacked me. The waitress literally stood over me and berated me about an issue she had with me friends 2 weeks prior, for about 10 mins. I failed to report the incident to the manager that night, but I was so upset and in disbelief that this had happened. I had never experienced anything like this in my life. However, I emailed the manager first thing the following morning, which a snippet is below.
"However, last night my experience there was completely different. After arriving to the bar, I sat with a group of friends, one of which was also with me two weeks ago. Shaun was our waitress last night as well. Immediately upon approaching our table, Shaun stated that she recognized me and I had given her a hard-time two weeks ago. I immediately thought that she was joking; however, it quickly became evident that she not. She continue to berate me about the incident that took place 2 weeks ago, stating that "I said that she spit in my drink" and "I did not tip her", among many other hostile, inaccurate and disrepectful things. This incident lasted in excess of 5 minutes, and Shaun was so hostile that the person sitting next to me, who I had only met upon sitting down, got up from the table because she was not sure if Shaun was about to get physical and did not want to get caught in the crossfire. This entire incident took place as I sat in my seat and Shaun hovered over me, getting closer and closer with ever word.
I am a New Orleans and resident, and I work in the CBD. I frequent hotel bars in the area on Fridays for happy hour regularly. I have never experienced anything like this in my life. I am still in utter disbelief.
I ask that you please contact so we can discuss this incident further and possibly reach a solution. I enjoy visiting Monkey Board and will like to continue to be a regular; however, I do not want to feel uncomfortable when I return. My cell phone number is 504-782-* and my work number is 504-599-*. I am aware that you guys are very busy with the Essence Fest right now, but it would be greatly appreciated if someone can call me sometime next week to discuss. Thanks for your time and cooperation in this matter. "
In addition to what I told the manager in my email, the waitress also told me that she had a Bachelor's in Science and I asked why we were talking about her degree. She said that her friend had to tell me that she had a B.S. because my friends and I were lawyers, which I never mentioned. This among other things Shaun said made me realize that this waitress was carrying a huge chip on her shoulder, and somehow thought my friends had degraded her. And if anyone knows me they know that that is not my character. So I really wanted to speak to the manager on the phone so I can tell him the other things she stated, and the tone in which she said it.
The manager emailed me a few days later and stated that he would get to the bottom of what happened and would contact me by phone. He called a couple of days later, and I missed his call. He left me a voicemail stating that he wanted to get some more info. I immediately called him back and I left him a voicemail. I emailed him again on 7/15/17 because i had not heard anything. He never responded.
Today 8/11/17,more than a month later, I decided to go to the hotel and speak with the manager. And they did absolutely nothing. They basically told me that they didn't believe me because I didn't report it that night and they questioned me about emailing the manager at 2:00 AM. And that nothing would have been clear from video. I was not offered so much as an apology from...
Read moreBefore we get into the meat and potatoes of this review, let me first start by saying if I only graded the Monkey Board on atmosphere alone it would be 5 stars, but since that's not the case, let me explain this 1 star rating. So before our group even decided to go to the MB we checked out their business website and Instagram, just to see if it was somewhere we'd even like to visit. We checked out the menu, checked out their pics and everything was a go. We were all excited to go and try what I'm assuming is the signature desert, the birthday cake. You can imagine our disdain when we arrived and the menu was completely different from what was listed on the website.
So after musing over the "New" menu for about 20 minutes, the waitress, that had to be physically called over, finally explained that menu items such as, the pretzel, chicken sandwich, and Birthday cake were no longer available(basically the entire online menu). I explained to her that I had a friend that had visited just a week ago who had the Pretzel in which she responded, "that hasn't been on the menu in two weeks." Don't get me wrong I can understand restaurants changing out menus, but if you plan on changing out a menu, wouldn't it be smart to update the website as to not get patrons hopes up?
After finally ordering our entrees and eating, the waitress comes back to the table and in a condescending tone ask, "well, what did your friend say." I work in the hospitality and service industry, and one thing I've learned is that you have to know how to talk to your customers. It's obvious that type of training failed this waitress and she needs a recap.
Now the pièce de resistance. We asked that our checks be separated because everyone had different payment methods. Once she arrived with the checks she informed us that 4 people out of our party had been charged more because the item they ordered (which was cheaper) was not listed in the system. Which brings me back to my earlier point, if you change out a menu, a new one should be posted immediately and the pricing system should also be updated. The manager was called and to add insult to injury he was under the impression that we had a problem with the gratuity that was automatically applied to our bills which was not the case at all. We simply wanted to be charged correctly for items that were consumed and not for something they screwed up on.
To sum this up, the Monkey Board still has a ways to go before they can claim the title of best Rooftop bar in New Orleans. The owner also needs to reevaluate the type of people he hires to be the face...
Read moreI only gave one star because it won't allow me to post anything if I don't rate a star. Where do I begin. My friend was trying to post on their instagram page and their page wouldn't allow her to. Shame on you that you only allow positive reviews on your website. Our review goes in the same lines as the previous review from Eddy.
What is advertised on their website is not what is offered.
This place was a joke. We travelled from Orlando, Florida celebrating my friends birthday and wanted THE birthday cake offered on their website but when we arrived they claimed that they stopped serving it 2 weeks ago meanwhile they posted a post on their instagram 2 days before we arrived. Their excuse was that their social media team is from NY 😏. They had no dessert alternative. The waitress was extreme rude and nonchalant as hell. Not the New Orleans friendly attitude that we had encountered every other place in New Orleans. We asked the DJ to play a Birthday Related song and she said she couldn't take a request 😳 But proceeds to make out with her boyfriend and the DJ both while on the job (pictures attached) The bar manager offered us a free shot to compensate for the terrible attitude of their staff. The rude waitress only bring 3 shots but there were 4 of us 😏. We point this out to the waitress and she then tells us with the rude attitude "that's what they gave me". Not let me go check and get you another one! Terrible first time experience in the Big Easy on a...
