My partner picked this hotel, and he did well. I am particular. I will say they first night we arrived, the young lady had a BAD attitude. We arrived around 9pm, which was later than we anticipated as we drove in. The check in went easy. We did have to use a different card, which I gave to my partner and stepped away because her eye rolls and demeanor was uneasy. The next days which we stayed for 7 were well. We didn't need much so not much. Breakfast is not free go around the corner WALK and visit lux Cafe super great. Or dinner at the indian place by subway! anywho valet is $43-49 depending on the night and size of vehicle.we really wished we didn't have the car because we walked everyday other than when it was 25° and slight rain. So we paid $300+ to park the car. Most of the time valet staff was inconsistent that wasn't a problem getting the car in a timely manner it actually saved us money in not having to dish out an addition$10 tip regularly Amber was the valet we spoke to often even when walking we would say good morning she would give restaurants or place suggestions. My partner played pool while waiting for the car, there are a good variety of board games and card games available. Ciera at the front desk was pleasant also she gave suggestions as well. We had a situation with house keeping 1 day I do not use that resource more than needed when I stay at hotel so mid we we wanted it all other days we did not which previous days we seen the cleaning staff in the hall in communicated that it was not needed(the only sign for the door says come back later) anywho the 1 day we got in the next day we did not see staff so we informed front desk to tell them we did NOT need it.the still went in there my bed was already made they placed my personal folded items on the floor!!! I indeed was so shocked and mad. They also took my nightgown(accident) and had in in the piles of numerous dirty linens they had in the halls...she overlooked it because it was blended with towels however they all had a language barrier and didn't understand when my husband asked about the gown, the supervisor did end up coming and took care of everything in a way that I felt was professional. Hotel cleanliness is always a mystery always will be BUT no one's belongings that were on a BED should ever touch those nasty ass floors. There was a fire alarm or alarm situation that said exit the building i was dead asleep,we were getting dressed then the lady said they are reviewing it and to proceed as normal. Okay check out they emailed a receipt took there keys and the car was retrieved easy.only thing that was confusing was on the document some dates appeared double charged for parking but we had did the math prior and it all was correct once we followed the charges which were still pending when we got home. The hotel is shared with apparetments it's not obvious, people kept taking the wrong elevators and wondering about parking themselves which that garage charges everytime you take the car in/out is what I heard from the staff. I am thankful for the security of needing your room key to access your hotel floor. The tv had many channels, but many did not functioning.Bring your hdmi, or you can log into select streaming services. Overall, easy access to all that you...
Read moreI am writing as a long-standing and loyal Marriott Bonvoy member who has consistently chosen Marriott properties around the world for both business and leisure travel. Regrettably, I recently had a disappointing experience during my stay at Aloft New Orleans Downtown, which prompts me to formally submit a complaint regarding the conduct of the front desk staff manager, Chyna.
Throughout my stay, Chyna’s demeanor was consistently unwelcoming, dismissive, and unhelpful. Each time I approached the front desk with a question or request, I was met with visible irritation and an unwillingness to assist. This culminated on the day of my departure when I requested a copy of my folio and sought clarification regarding the billing. The total reflected over $600, despite the fact that my initial booking was only $520, and we had been told we would be compensated for two nights due to ongoing issues with the air conditioning, which had failed on two separate nights, making the room unbearably hot and uncomfortable. In the end we only got comped for one out of the two nights.
My inquiry was entirely reasonable, yet Chyna responded with hostility, refused to offer any clarification, and cut me off as I was speaking. Her tone was inappropriate, unprofessional, and unbecoming of someone in a managerial role—particularly one representing the Marriott brand. In stark contrast, another front desk associate, who was not in a leadership position, reviewed the folio and was initially confused as well. However, she approached the situation with patience and courtesy, ultimately offering the assistance that Chyna had refused. It was both surprising and disappointing to witness such a disparity in professionalism, especially given that Chyna holds a leadership role. When the other staff member was helping me Chyna begins to try and engage and I kindly declined given her previous rude behavior.
To make matters worse, after I walked away from the desk but walked back toward the breakfast area, I overheard Chyna making disparaging remarks about me and laughing—conduct that was deeply unprofessional, offensive, and outright ghetto. We are not in the streets, this is a professional establishment leading to extreme discomfort on my behalf. I do not come to Marriott to experience such discomfort. Her language and behavior were not only inappropriate but entirely misaligned with the high standards and values I associate with the Marriott brand. As someone whose family members have held management roles within Marriott, I am especially disheartened to have encountered this level of disrespect and disregard for guest satisfaction.
Additionally, I would like to express my disappointment with the breakfast options during my stay. I had prepaid for breakfast in advance of my arrival, only to find there were no non-pork savory options available. I was also informed that the plant-based sandwich option had been discontinued. The lack of inclusive dietary offerings was unexpected and further detracted from an already...
Read moreThis place is a store front for robbing people. DO NOT BOOK HERE BECAUSE IT'S CLOSE TO AMTRAK!! *. I had a reservation here. Called to explain my train was running late I'd need a late check in. The train was suppose to make up time. It actually picked up in Atlanta already 2 hrs late. My last notification was 10:30pm updating arrival to 12:30am. I fell asleep on train at midnight knew new orleans was last stop we would all be getting off the train (on time train arrives at 9pm) when I woke up in NOL it was 2am I paid $15 to get to Aloft to be told "I shouldn't not have fallen asleep and could not have my room I pd $144. For but would have to wait until 7am and buy another room". Why would I do that? I was only staying until 11am. My train in to Chicago leaves at 11:43am. I WAS IN LOBBY HAD PAID FOR A ROOM AT BOOKING AND WOMAN SITTING AT DESK WHO APPARENTLY WASN'T THERE TO CHECK ANY BODY IN BUT TO DENY THEM WHAT THEY PAID FOR. she said too bad I already cashed out?? What the hell? What a totally horrible way to treat a person. Who paid for a room and just spent 14 hrs on a train. I had no control over the train being 6 hours late. No more than if it made up time. The nerve to treat someone like that to sit at the hotel and rob people because they can. AND THEY WILL! I would not pay them twice. Wait til 7am and buy another night I was told when I already only had a few hours for a shower and sleep. To refuse to check me into any room until 7am!? The only offer she had was to sit around 5 more hours then pay again. She tried to tell me to leave and come back. What!? I paid for a room, Amtrak station closed, go wonder the street like a homeless bum because I won't be bothered to check you in now. You are too late. They shouldn't be allowed to do that. Why even have staff there? I see why you need security. Passively aggressively robbing people, people get a little unhappy. How would you like to be treated like that when traveling McKayla? I went else where and paid another chain not attached to these crooks..I was treated like a human instead of garbage. What are they afraid of? I could have shown them my train booking for in the morning. But they didn't care about verifying anything, just treating me like a homeless bum they were trying to force me to be. Because apparently you must be stupid to book here. A respectable person wouldn't ride the train they would fly? I'm sorry I even booked this dump. When you book at Aloft they never send the email confirmation either. Write it down all of it because if you screen shot the info it shows up with all info cropped off except confrontation # and dates. No hotel name or address or phone. This place needs to burn to the ground. I will NEVER STAY IN ALOFT ANYWHERE. I hope you go bankrupt. What a front for...
