This was our first time dining at Mr. Shrimp. We went there on Holy Saturday and ordered 2 shrimp plates with fries. They were out of fries, so the manager said he would give us boiled corn and potatoes as a substitute. This was really the only option because we don't eat meat during Holy Week. When the food was done, the cashier informed us that they ran out of corn, so they had to double up on boiled potatoes. They also ran out of tartar sauce and forks. As much as I wanted to like this restaurant, they have too many question marks behind their name from not having more than a few items that are needed for customers. The manger was very approachable and did tell us that they ran out of a few items because they were about to close. I believe they had about 30-minute left before closing, so it wasn't like it was 10 mins to closing. On a positive note, the fried shrimp were fresh, hot, and delicious... you can tell they were shrimp from the Gulf. I don't think we will be returning to this place due to all of the items they did not have. The meal was $16, which in theory would have been ok, had they not ran out of everything. My friend got a catfish with her shrimp and agreed with men on the taste, but told me that the fountain drink machine wasn't working so she had to get our drinks from...
Read moreOn my first trip to New Orleans, after checking into my hotel, I wandered the Riverwalk in search of food after a long flight from Detroit. As soon as I saw Mr. Shrimp's Kitchen, I knew I had to check it out. Whenever I can, I support black-owned businesses. My man who that manned the stove was getting it in. The staff was gracious and had a touch of southern hospitality when I ordered fried shrimp and fries. The ladies noticed I did not have an accent and asked, Where bouts was I from? Of course, I rep the 313.
After I dug into my meal and it was on point. The next day, I recommended it to friends who came in, and of course, I took them there right after they landed. My man working the stove did it again and laid them out, and the ladies were still so gracious. My hat's off to Mr. Shrimp's Kitchen. To close out my trip after 6 wonderful days in New Orleans, I made Mr. Shrimp's Kitchen my last meal down there, the fried shrimp and fries again, and no doubt they did not disappoint. As a final note, I'll...
Read moreThe food court at the mall is not someplace you would think you would find exceptional food, but right there in the food court of the Riverwalk Outlet Mall is Mr. Shrimp. Everything is fresh and cooked right in front of you. The fryer is working overtime as are the saute pans but you won't have long to wait. Your food is packed and ready in no time and served to you by a very friendly staff, all of whom I suspect are family, from the lively young cashier to the two chefs preparing the food (and samples) to the young lady packing your order. But then the experience gets better when you take a bite of one of their hot fried shrimp into your mouth! Seasoned to perfection. And we grew up in New Orleans so we know fried seafood. Fortunately for us they are walking distance from our home so we have a new go-to spot for fried shrimp. But we want to order the shrimp and pasta dish the young lady was making for her own dinner!...
