Review: 1915 Lanzhou Hand Pulled Noodles
If you’re looking for a spot that nails both flavor and authenticity, 1915 Lanzhou Hand Pulled Noodles is a must-visit.
🌟 Must-Try: N3 - Braised Beef Hand Pulled Noodles
This is hands down my top recommendation. The braised beef comes in tender, marinated cubes that are packed with rich, savory flavor. It’s not overly salty or heavy — just perfectly balanced and deeply satisfying.
The hand-pulled noodles are next-level. They’re fresh, chewy, and soaked with the essence of the broth, which is incredibly flavorful without being overwhelming. You can really taste the craft in every bowl.
🥟 Don’t Skip: Steamed Dumplings
The steamed dumplings pair beautifully with their vinegary house sauce — a tangy, well-balanced dip that seems to be their own secret recipe. Simple but extremely well done.
👨🍳 Chef Skills: The Noodle Master
Watching the chef pull the noodles is a show in itself. It takes real strength and precision to stretch out those thick, heavy strands by hand — and he does it constantly throughout the day. Super impressive.
💳 Bonus: They Accept Cards
This is actually a big deal for a Chinatown spot, where many places are still cash-only. Super convenient and appreciated.
🕐 Pro Tips
The place is small and busy, especially on weekends. Expect a wait during peak times.
For a quicker visit, aim for weekdays.
Staff are attentive and efficient, even with the tight space and high pace.
🎯 Overall
1915 Lanzhou Hand Pulled Noodles delivers authenticity, flavor, and craftsmanship. It has that unique, local vibe and every dish feels thoughtfully made. Highly recommended, especially if you love noodles done right — and yes,...
Read moreI ordered for delivery and my dishes arrived a bit cold, but even after reheating, the texture and chewiness of the hand-pulled large flat noodles were fantastic. I can see why people raved about the fresh noodles. I ordered the special dry beef noodle, the spicy oil spill noodle, and the traditional steamed pork buns (I was hungry!) Flavor and ingredient-wise, I was underwhelmed. Both noodle dishes lacked ingredients from the pictures in their menu and seemed very plain; a whole bunch of oiled noodles mostly. Still, because the noodles were so good even reheated, and they really give you a lot, I ended up remaking it at home and adding some veggies, which turned out great. I preferred the spicy oil spill noodle flavor over the special dry beef noodle. The dry beef was good and tender, but overall, the dish has a very strong meat-flavor and was too gamey for me. The traditional steamed pork dumplings were the most disappointing for me. They are larger than what I am accustomed to seeing at other restaurants. However, they were almost all bun and had about a teaspoon or less of pork "stuffing" in it, so they felt unbalanced and even a bit dry and flavorless. I will try 1915 Lanzhou again, this time dining in, as I haven't had the opportunity to try their noodle soups. Perhaps their wontons or regular dumplings will be...
Read moreI enjoyed the hand-pulled noodles, but the broth was lukewarm, which I understand might be a safety measure. My partner, who’s been to Xi’an, found the food quite authentic, although the meat portion in the lamb burger was very minimal.
However, there are areas where the restaurant could improve. Upon arrival, it was confusing as no one greeted or seated us, despite the tables being set up. I wasn’t sure if this is a self service or a sit down and order restaurant , so I approached the lady behind the counter to inquire about ordering, and she directed us to order at the counter. After ordering, we found a table and served ourselves the drinks (all the drinks are in a refrigerator) we ordered at the counter. Despite the lack of service and confusion, we still left a 15% tip.
Unfortunately, it was evident that there was a disparity in treatment when a Caucasian couple walked in. The same lady who had previously took our order at the counter greeted them with a much brighter tone and attitude, seating them at a table and taking their order there. It became apparent that we weren’t receiving the same level of hospitality.
The restaurant owner needs to establish a consistent approach to customer service and ensure that all patrons are treated equally, regardless...
