Ā Ā Ā Read moreservice was really great! the barista is really cute and so welcoming. nice looking place in a very appealing location. lots of potential. they are doing some things very right. still, the management should rethink some aspects of how they run the place. really take a hard look at the biz model. the music is somewhat annoying -- very punchy poppy, not bad by itself but continuously too loud through a tinny speaker. they have an upsell-upsell-upsell policy that lacks transparency (how much are those extra beans?), which i think will put off regular customers and sorta trick new ones. such a weird business strategy. plus the f-word appears all over on t-shirts displayed in various places, which might have been funny at first but seems a bit childish after two seconds. more times square than the upper east side and totally out of sync with the local 'hood. not sure what managers are thinking with stuff like that. the barista also insisted -- in a very friendly way -- that i leave a review ('here's the QR code') and even requested a video, so so so strange of a request of a customer you'd think they would like to return. plus maybe i had something better to do. or just wanted to relax. still, i have to admit, the coffee definitely tasted great. i'm getting a second cup. i love...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a super charming cute place thatās perfect for hanging out with a book on a rainy afternoon if you can afford the coffee. The staff seem to really love what they do which is as important as the coffee they serve, the main barista (maybe the owner? not sure) really made a point of explaining what makes them special (small menu, specialty-roasted and curated beans, etc). Definitely a 5-star there.
Two bits of downside for me though. First: the music is WAY too loud. It was hard to actually focus on anything with the music blasting - turn it down by half, guys, otherwise it totally takes away from the charm and coziness. Second, the prices areā¦.. eye watering. Itās the first time Iāve ever run into an $11 latte, almost 40% of that was from the āspecial beansā I was forced to select for my drink (note: theyāre also all flavored, which I donāt love, I would prefer that they offer an unflavored, ānormalā option). Frankly, Iād rather just have regular beans if itās going to add that much to the price of the drink. I definitely couldnāt hang out here more than just occasionally if itās 2x anywhere else which is disappointing because Iād love to visit again if it was more affordable! So on that score, Iād give them a 2-star for atmosphere and in the end Iād stay itās a...
