Visiting NYC and happened to come across this sushi spot. I noticed they were offering free samples and checked the reviews. Truthfully I was surprised by the ratio and rating but found out for myself why theyād deserved them. The owner was so friendly and genuinely excited to have us try the samples. He takes pride in the quality ingredients and it didnāt disappoint! It was an amazing tasting experience and I ordered the chefs omakase box to go. Even some time later the sushi tasted amazing, didnāt have that watery texture heavily frozen fish have, a testament to the quality of the fish. Each bite was fresh and had a lovely flavor profile. The star was certainly the fresh uni on the wagyu sushi. It literally tasted like the ocean, hadnāt had uni like that, even at Nobu. Definitely coming back on...

In a post-partum sushi binge, my wife led me to this unassuming little place. Only 4 chairs inside and two chefs behind the counter. I started my order when the chef/owner suggested we do the 10-piece Omakase. Fresh buttery fish, really flavorful rice, perfect balance of flavors. Chef/owner also cut up and served us complimentary watermelon. Very personal experience, a memorable meal. We will...

This is really #1 in terms of price to quality ratio in the city. Itās a half step below some of the top Omakase experiences (RIP Brushstroke), but above Sugarfish.
Sushi by M is another favorite for $69 plus their $12 sake and ambiance at a sushi bar. But if youāre just looking for lunch or dinner takeout, this place offers a better deal for about the same quality.
So⦠for takeout and price/quality, Oyishi is #1. Itās our new go-to for weekly orders.
For a sit-down classic Omakase, aka date night, Sushi by M.
But no more Sugarfish delivery ā this place just...
