We love afternoon tea and have tried many places in NYC. After seeing the afternoon tea menu on their Instagram, we decided to make a reservation for Mother's Day lunch.
The restaurant had cute decor, and we were excited to visit.
We ordered the afternoon tea for two ($70) along with some burgers. However, the tea selection was limited to chamomile, peppermint, and Japanese sencha. What kind of afternoon tea doesn't include any black tea options? We reluctantly chose the Japanese sencha, which is a green tea.
When they brought out the teapot along with a milk jug and a sugar jar, I couldn't help but wonder—who drinks Japanese green tea with milk and sugar?!
I was already feeling frustrated, but it escalated when they presented the afternoon tea tower. I was so disappointed! It did not resemble the picture we had seen on Instagram at all. The presentation was lackluster, and the taste was subpar. I could only stomach one small sandwich before giving up. The scone looked like a sad, store-bought item, and the butter and blueberry jam were presented sloppily.
The cake on top was just a slice cut from a store-bought round cake. For the quality we received, the price should have been $30 or less. Honestly, they shouldn’t even offer afternoon tea.
While the teapot, cup, and tower were cute, everything else felt like a waste. The tea cup was not clean as well.
We addressed our concerns with the staff, and they decided not to charge us for the afternoon tea. However, our Mother's Day was definitely ruined.
We ended up ordering avocado toast, which was just okay. The avocado was smashed to the consistency of peanut butter, and I didn’t like the texture.
The interior and decor were still adorable, but unfortunately, that was the best part of the experience.

Read moreLast night did not begin as planned. Our plans fell through, forcing a last-minute change. And that’s how I stumbled upon All & Sundry. Tucked so inconspicuously into the street that, I would have never noticed it. But there it was—small, intimate, and just a short walk from Columbus Circle.
What I didn’t expect was the sound that greeted us as we stepped inside—a hum of a jazz performance in full swing. The kind that wraps around you like a warm, forgotten melody. The bar was packed, not a single seat free, even at the bar.
The staff, offered us a reserved table—meant for a party arriving at nine. Since it was only 8:15, they let us claim it for 45 minutes. And when the time was up, instead of asking us to leave, they found us another table. A small gesture, but one that made all the difference.
They host jazz performances every Saturday, from 8 PM until close. So if Valentine’s Day doesn’t go quite as planned, or if the city feels too large and impersonal next weekend, you’ll know where to go. A dimly lit bar, a jazz melody floating through the air, and a night waiting to unfold.
A perfect date spot—not for a first date, but perhaps a second or third, when silence can settle comfortably between the jazz notes. There are long tables, too, for large groups but I recommend reserving in advance.
I almost didn’t want to share this place, a true hidden gem. But secrets like these deserve to...
Read moreThis is a new, adorable place don’t get me wrong. Lots of appeal that makes you want to be there. Very clean, great atmosphere. Service re: staff is wonderful. My rating is primarily due to the fact that we live a block away, we were excited to try this new “cocktail” bar and we have gone there 3x now to get a good cocktail and I’m now officially convinced they cannot make one after the martinis we attempted to drink there last night (two $23 martinis might I add. And for that price there better be blue cheese stuffed olives). The second I took a sip of it I remembered instantly that the last 2x we came, the drinks weren’t good at all. My 3 stars is due to the fact that this place markets itself as a cocktail bar and they can’t even make a good martini. The “ingredients” of this place so to speak are there (staff, atmosphere, vibe) but what’s the point if I can’t even get a decent cocktail here? I don’t know if it’s the bartenders, I don’t know if it’s the selection of brand choices of ingredients used to mix cocktails. I have no idea. But I do know that unfortunately we’re not going back again. Our hood needs a cool cocktail bar and I was hoping this would be it. It’s cool, but not a good...
