Antonucci’s has always been our favorite local restaurant on 81st and 3rd…until last night.
Antonucci’s made an 8pm reservation for us to allow us to sit at our favorite corner table for two. They even called the day of the reservation to reconfirm AND said you will get the corner table due to an earlier reservation at that table.
Upon our prompt arrival the man at the arrival desk said to us “oh I’m sorry, someone just put dibs on the corner table.” To which I responded “no, we had been assured twice over the last two days by your colleagues that was our table, so no one can just put dibs on that table right now.”
The owner then realized he himself had made the mistake and instead of apologizing and making the situation iright again, the owner then tried to offer us a table immediately next to the reservationists which is a terrible table with their backends in your face all night, or a table next to the stairway for the help and table settings station with lots of noise, both which were terrible options.
Reluctantly, we took the table next to the stairs. We never saw or heard from the owner again. Our waitress took our order and we never saw her again.
Sadly the night was compounded with an over cooked Veal Scaloppine and a very mediocre spaghetti side dish.
Conclusion: Antonucci’s has lost its way. Their high level of service is gone. Their mouth watering Veal Scaloppine is now over cooked and slightly rubbery. They seem to cater to the very old geriatric crowd. We will move on to better service, better food at the fun places in our neighborhood of Elio’s, Parma Nuova and Lusardi’s. Thank you for the memories Antonucci’s. We are sorry to see you have...
Read moreDon't know how this place got all these reviews. To begin with, we ordered delivery from their website and called up there to place our order. The lady on the phone didn't have any customer service skills, didn't answer the questions I asked her, and put me on hold for a long time. I finally place my order and wait. Next, they finally deliver it and it's was just averaged sized portion of meat lasagna. I felt like Autonucci Cafe is way over priced, way too salty, barely any ricotta cheese, and for the portion size, it wasn't even all that great. I could have gotten a Stouffers lasagna from the super market for $5 and it would have been better. They call it a meat lasagna but there was barely any meat... not what I expect when I get a lasagna. I've had meat sauce that has more meat than their meat lasagna. I felt like it was a big rip off for the money I spent. Who knows, maybe Autonucci Cafe is a good place to go, maybe their other dishes are good, or maybe I've just had bad luck with this place, but if lasagna is what you seek,...
Read moreLiving in NJ and dining out constantly this is my review Visit this Sunday arrived 5pm. Server brought complimentary bread and dish of marinara sauce with about two tablespoons of goat cheese. Lookin over the menu I saw by comparison of other Italian restaurants the entrees were grossly overpriced. I wasn't going to pay their hostage entrees fees.. We looked towards the appetizers and found equally overpriced. $26.00 for 3 SMALL meatballs. They should be jailed. So in ordering the meatball appetizer to order something I asked for a teaspoon of goat cheese....waitress informs me after returning from the kitchen that it would be $5.00 additional. What I said, you served a 2 tablespoon dollop for no charge with the bread and sauce, now you want $5??? Forget it. My wife ordered the appetizer eggplant small size of course, but $26.00? People who eat here are FOOLS NOT FOODIES. Not that I ordered drinks but you can buy a bottle of liquor less then what they charge...
