Bagel Express II — Restaurant in New York

1 Star Review for the deceptive prices displayed both inside and outside of this shop. A provolone cheese sandwich is marked $5.95 - Which is what I ordered on rye bread and expected to pay. At check out I was charged additional arbitrary costs for the slice of lettuce, tomato, and onion that I added (without realizing these standard sandwich toppings are added costs). When I asked why he rang my sandwich up at $9 instead of $5.95, this is literally what he told me. Not sure how a slice of lettuce, a sliver of tomato and red onion costs anyone an additional $3 but if they have the audacity to charge for it then it should be clearly noted UP FRONT on their price board & outside menu. I mean it's 2025 no one is interested in hidden fees, we'll just take our business...

I literally live across the street and will not give this place my business. Here’s why:

1. worst bagels in town. They are oversized, tasteless, doughy circles from bakery hell. Today I tried again after a year away. Ordered a simple toasted poppy bagel with butter. Threw it away after one bite.

2. terrible coffee. Even the coffee sucks! How is it possible to make such awful coffee? It’s like the dreck you’re served on airlines.

3. Service. No one writes things down so the two orders prior to mine were wrong (forgot cheese on one sandwich and tomatoes on another). And it’s just a random approach to ordering and receiving your food. Plus the people are rather surly and indifferent.

4. expensive. How can a buttered bagel and small coffee cost...

I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THIS PLACE AGAIN. Whoever the guy in the morning is disgusting .. I called to go over my order since the past 4 times my order came and was incorrect and missing things that they claimed they would bring back and NEVER did so I lost out on money ..The guy was extremly rude huffing and puffing and being so nasty and hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak to a manager he said he's busy and hung up on me again... I will be going in person to speak to someone but I wanted people to know the service they will get .The food is ok but I will never spend my hard earned money at a place who treats their customers so disrespectful no matter how good the food is and it isn't that great. This place needs...
