B&B BAGELS — Restaurant in New York

Worst bagel on the east side. My friends said this place had gone downhill and they were right. The bagel was mediocre and they put the thinnest amount of cream cheese I’ve ever seen in NY. Anyone who lives here will tell you most places glob it on unless you ask for less. This was like they were spreading butter. A bagel and an eighth of an inch of schmear should not be over $10.

(Edit in response to owner’s comment: Nice try, but your bagel with lox spread is over $10 including tax. By the way, I only ordered half lox cream cheese, half plain cream cheese, but was charged as if it were full lox cream cheese. I even verified this with your staff. Fair enough, some businesses don’t split prices. But to only give a tiny amount of cream cheese is shameful. And then you come on here and lie in your response. Horrible service. Placed my order and then they proceeded to make other people’s bagels first. 3 people were served before me. I placed a simple order - bagel and cream cheese. They took the bagel placed in the toaster for me and used it for another customer. Inexcusable. Why would you treat a customer this way? If it was a mistake, then apologize. When I asked them about it, they did not apologize. Do not eat here. Mediocre bagels. Horrible service.

Update: Their reply is weird. Yes, I said I was being helped. That means the other guy who took my order originally is supposed to continue and finish making my bagel. He did not. Instead, as I mentioned, he decided to prioritize other people who came in and ordered after me. Any good business owner understands that all that’s needed is an apology for the error. The fact that they did not apologize when I asked them about it in person nor now that I’ve left a review...

I can’t say enough good things about this place. The bagels are fresh, perfectly chewy on the inside with that ideal crispy outside — exactly how a real bagel should be! You can tell they’re made with care and tradition. The variety is fantastic too — from classic plain and everything bagels to creative seasonal flavors, there’s something for everyone. The spreads and sandwich options are top-notch, especially the lox and cream cheese — simply amazing.
