Bar Veloce Chelsea has been my neighborhood spot for the past 5 years, and is truly a neighborhood staple. The happy hour deal is unbeatable, the ambiance is perfection, and the staff is so fun and welcoming. The entire staff - especially David, Dara, and Valentin - are absolutely, 100% the reason that I keep coming back. They all immediately make you feel at home. Very nice atmosphere in the back patio with plants and dim lighting, and not too noisy. It was easy to get a seat on the patio on Wednesday night.

They have a somewhat, but still existent, non-alcoholic drink menu. I had their Sonic Youth non-alcoholic mocktail, and it was not sweet at all (which I liked) and had an interesting flavor. Okay maybe I wish it was just slightly sweet.

This was a wonderful bar experience we bumped into after a long and delightful walk in the city. We were looking for a drink and appetizers before seeing Hamilton, and scouted Veloce on the corner. Joe is a fantastic bartender who engaged my wife and I, former New Yorkers, in splendid conversation and reminiscence.
