Our reviews had over 52 million in the last 12 months. We do not get paid we just love to eat and have fun. We really love Blue Ribbon Sushi Izakaya. The food was great, the service was awesome, the room was lovely and the food was really good. I do not know Japanese names for the food we ate so let me just tell you in my own words. The scallops on a skewer were really buttery and had a wonderful sauce. Same can be said for the steak on a stick. The sticky rice with spice tuna and avocado was delicious but it is not really spicy. Everyone loved this dish. The fried chicken is also great because of the sauces. One is a hot sauce and one is a gently warm honey sauce. We loved the veggie fried rice with egg. The sushi was very good as well. My favorite was the salmon which had a lot of flavor and melted in your mouth. I loved the eel wrapped in cucumber. Desserts were very good, we loved the banana split as well as the chocolate bread pudding. They have espresso and all the other coffee drinks. Each was great. Very lovely evening. We made our initial order then added to it after we decided how full we were. Online there is a pdf menu but the non-pdf menu on the website has photos of every dish which we found very helpful. Be prepared to go up a lot of steps when you enter, but it is worth it. Also has a nice bar area. Check out all of our reviews and look at all the photos below. Read moreMy boyfriend and I had a reservation for 9PM. We get a text from the restaurant at 8:40 that our table was ready so we get there 10 minutes later to find that the table is in fact NOT ready. We waited for 20 minutes to get our actual table and had to rush in ordering and eating since we need to get out of there at 10PM according to NYC Covid regulations. So not only did they falsely tell us to come early but also made us wait for 20 minutes. Very very rude.
As for the food, everything was utterly disappointing. The miso cod was chewy and overcooked, with barely any miso flavor. The pork dumplings were too salty, practically inedible. The unadon was TERRIBLE. Cold eel, it was actually disgusting. The sushi was not fresh, and super sticky. They were sticking to the paper underneath and falling apart. We didn't even finish our food despite their small portions. The fried chicken was the only good thing. We were so disappointed that we ordered the check at 9:30. We couldn't take it anymore. We paid and spoke to the manager afterwards who just said that "yes he apologizes and anticipated this because it's a busy night." Well not our problem! Our total was almost 200$, each of us paying a 100 bucks for absolute trash. After we left we walked down the street to Katz and split a 20$ pastrami sandwich and that was better than that blue ribbon meal. I was always a frequent customer, but never again will I set foot in that place, for terrible service and hospitality, and even more terrible food. Never again.
PS. I want...
Read moreWe usually go to the Sullivan St location but since their hours have been adjusted, we weren't able to do lunch. We tried a different sushi place before in lieu of Blue Ribbon and while it was good, it wasn't memorable like Blue Ribbon. This location is nice. Swanky. I love you don't think you're in a hotel since it has its own entrance from the Sixty. Service was good, although it didn't measure to the Sullivan location. Fish was definitely fresh, delicious and high quality without fail. Rolls are properly sized as they should be. Prices are consistent with their other locations and on par with the quality. Now, if you're going there for the value of your dollar, don't. This is not your sushi place where you're going to get massive rolls that don't fit in your mouth for 12 bucks and you can't taste anything but rice.
Do go here if you want a great scallop roll and king salmon where you can tell difference to...
