Boishakhi Restaurant Bengali Flavors in the Heart of Astoria
I stopped by Boishakhi Restaurant in Astoria, and it absolutely hit the mark. Everything we ordered was packed with bold flavor and felt like true Bengali comfort food.
I started with the Chicken Bihari, and wow it was tender, full of flavor, and far from your average chicken dish. It had a smoky, well-balanced spice that made it anything but boring.
Then came the Beef Tehari, and it was incredible. The rice was rich, aromatic, and deeply satisfying my taste buds, genuinely happy. The tamarind sauce on the side added the perfect tangy contrast.
I also tried a samosa, and I immediately wished I had ordered more. It was perfectly flaky with a light crunch, and the filling was flavorful with just a little kick. One was not enough!
Parking in the area can be a bit of a challenge, but it’s worth it Astoria is full of amazing food spots, and Boishakhi is definitely one of them. We spent about $30 total, which was more than enough for two people (even three could share).
That’s the beauty of NY so many places like this keeping it real, authentic, and full of heart. If you’re anywhere near Astoria and craving something flavorful and satisfying, make sure Boishakhi is...
Read moreBoishakhi Restaurant in Astoria offers a delightful experience with its authentic Bangladeshi flavors and fully halal menu. The food is incredibly tasty, capturing the true essence of Bangladeshi cuisine. My initial order of fried rice, noodles, tandoori chicken, and lollipop chicken was so good that I couldn’t resist ordering more—beef Bihari kabab and large tandoori chicken from the display. For takeout, I chose polao, rezala, bharta, and doi, and each dish was perfectly prepared. A must-try is their cha, which is rich and flavorful.
The service at Boishakhi is exceptional, with staff being quick, polite, and attentive. The upstairs dining area is cozy, providing an intimate atmosphere, while the downstairs space is more open and accommodating for larger groups. Regardless of where you sit, the ambiance is warm and welcoming, making it an excellent spot for both casual dining and family gatherings.
Hygiene and cleanliness are well-maintained, including their bathrooms, which are spotless and convenient. Boishakhi Restaurant has become one of our favorites for its consistently delicious food and excellent service. It’s a must-visit for anyone seeking authentic Bangladeshi...
Read moreWe took a long drive from NJ to try out some native Bengali food at this restaurant, specially since they made Kacchi (goat) biryani on Saturday. Upon arrival, the first impression is really great, as there are sooo many dishes on display, easily more than 50 items, in different colors and textures. I was pretty mesmerized to see the whole range of items.
We ordered a variety of items, chicken lollipop, chicken roast, beef resala, kacchi biryani, chicken biryani, halim and kababs. After the order they heat up the items and bring them to the table. Sadly I wasn’t impressed with any of the items. Seemed to me the authentic taste wasn’t there, items were made to tone down the spice and flavor of the dishes. Kacchi was also a lot spicy than we expected. All the meat, specially the beef, was mostly dry and hard to chew. But I Iiked the rice in biryanis. Halim was very chunky, I was expecting ingredients to be well mixed and a smoother curry.
The first floor tables are decent but the tables and booth in the basement are not in their best shape. The basement area needs some patch up and cleaning to make it more...
