I struggle writing this review because I have always found the coffee and pastries to be quite good. Recent experiences have made me question holding business meetings here, however.
First off, the last couple months I have consistently noticed a fly problem in the cafe. I brushed it off the first few times but it now has been consistent enough I question the sanitary nature of the place.
Secondly is the seemingly new rule about “computers”. I understand as a small cafe they want people to not linger all day, but the passive aggressive sign (with typos) and rude “warnings” by staff are too much. I was in this morning at 8am waiting for a meeting and was browsing the paper on my iPad. A waitress came up and quite rudely said that they do not allow computers. I asked how this was different from a magazine and she said “well, I’m just telling you if a manager comes around”. I proceeded to read a magazine for 45 minutes and shockingly, nobody questioned it. I struggle to see the difference.
As a coffee shop in midtown, you should get to know your clientele a bit better. I will be going somewhere else from now on where they actually encourage people to sit in the cafe. Saint Ambrose at the Loews, for example, has a quality product and does not discourage people from actually eating...
Read moreI visited Cafe Bilboquet in July 2022 with several friends. My opinion about the place is below: Food: I had a Chicken Salad, two Caprese sandwiches, two Macaroons, and Lemonade. The salad was good, with well-balanced dressing, however, it was not freshly prepared, it was from the fridge. Caprese Sandwich was really good. I tried cold and also toasted and it was much better. Macaroons were also good. 9/10 Service: The staff is friendly. I noticed that there is a bit of chaos when the place is full of customers. 8/10 Interior: Nice design, interesting furniture, clean. But the space is a bit tiny. They also have outdoor seating which is a plus. 9/10 Restroom: Gender neutral, very clean, good lighting, spacious, with all amenities. The only disadvantage is, that it's the only one, and be ready to stand in a line. 10/10 Prices: I payed $41.7, I think some products are a little bit pricey, but if you consider location and quality it’s probably acceptable. 9/10 Summary: Very nice French cafe with descents quality products, tasty deserts, and nice atmo. I’ll definitely return. Cafe Bilboquet got 9/10 average score from me which...
Read moreI visited Café Bilboquet in New York and had an outstanding experience from start to finish. The place is beautifully designed with elegant décor and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes it perfect whether you’re alone or with friends. The service was exceptional — the staff were friendly, attentive, and paid attention to the little details that make you feel truly valued as a guest.
The coffee was simply excellent — rich, balanced, and clearly made with care. I also tried their pastries and desserts, which were fresh and absolutely delicious, especially the croissant: perfectly golden and crispy on the outside, soft and buttery on the inside.
The location is great, close to lively spots in Manhattan, yet the ambiance inside remains calm and relaxing. Prices are slightly on the higher side, but the quality of the food, coffee, and service makes it worth every penny.
Overall, I highly recommend Café Bilboquet if you’re looking for a spot that combines elegance, comfort, and top-quality...
