I was highly looking forward to my first time at this salon after reading such great reviews and especially all the media. I've been going to Mario Diab in Soho for YEARS, but decided to take a shot elsewhere for some change. While I was happy with my color from Carlina, my cut with Sunny was not even close to worth my time or the "mere" $100 for a cut. I'm aware she's only a "junior" stylist, but figured that anyone who holds a position in such a high end salon such as this would have to undergo extensive training or have outstanding quality of work. I came in with shoulder length hair and some long layers, and while I was not looking for anything wild, new, or crazy I simply explained that I wanted to clean up my look- even out my hair and the individual layers. Sunny couldn't understand what I was asking for since my CONSULT prior to my cut, asked me again many times when I sat in her chair, then began to "cut" my hair. There wasn't even a single strand or pile of my hair on the floor to clean up after she was "done". Immediately frustrated when she said I was done, I pointed out she had not done anything to my hair and it looks the exact same as when I walked in. The funny thing is I watched as she cut the hair for the girl before me and she too has not enough hair on the floor for what would even be considered a "trim". Angry and upset, I rushed out her chair to check out where I was able to voice my complaints to the general manager. She was a beyond helpful and kind woman, and gave me the option to come in again for a senior stylist to fix my hair, with no additional charge. Unfortunately my graduation is on Tuesday and so she was kind enough to ask a senior stylist to see me that same day. She set me up with Eugene who was kind and knowledgeable and took the time to explain my hair and what could be done, unfortunately it was unfixable and have to just let it grow out. Overall, the other staff were kind and helpful, but Sunny is a NO NO NO! Will not be coming back and actually will be trying to dispute this charge. So...

While I appreciate the owner, Rita Hazan's outmost professionalism in attempting to remedy the situation with a free of charge color correction, I feel it's important for others to know what happened to me. Especially because I just had to cut 3 inches off my severely damaged hair because of Carlina..
I have been Carlina's loyal client for over a year and she always did my blonde hair. I trusted her. I came in with beautiful, cool tone blonde hair opting for something more low maintenance for the fall and asked Carlina to put a few lowlights in my hair but keep most of the blond and the cool shade. She dumped dark dye ALL OVER my blonde. When she dried my hair, I was horrified. My ends had a green tint to them. She started to frantically re-bleach my hair which caused me to have white stripes and a brassy color base. She then proceeded to put on more dark dye and re-bleach again. The entire ordeal lasted 5 hours as I was hysterically crying in her chair. When I told her she needed to fix my hair she stormed out of the salon while my hair was still wet...leaving me with the receptionist who attempted to charge me $450 for this mess....my hair is now severely damaged. Please see the final result in the photos. The worst part is that Carlina still hasn't apologized or acknowledged what she's done to my hair. I'm still in shock at what happened.
I reached out to Rita Hazan herself and she provided a color correction free of charge! Rita is very talented and professional but please avoid Carlina...
Read moreGoing to a new colorist is a nerve racking process, but I believed I was in safe hands at Rita Hazan. Nothing could have been further from the truth. The Rita Hazan Salon has quite simply lost touch with the nature of their profession. From beginning to end, the experience is impersonal, inconsiderate and aggressive. The staff seem to be perpetually distracted by their own inflated sense of importance, hurtling around the salon speaking into completely unnecessary headsets. Colorists attempt to handle multiple clients at once, resulting in them taking no time to understand what you are looking for. My hair was painfully torn from my head during my wash with freezing cold water, which was liberally splashed across my face. I was left sitting in a chair completely ignored for almost 10 minutes with cold wet hair before being hurried over to a completely different stylist for my blow dry at which point two people tugged and pulled at my hair without speaking to me at all. The colorists are completely removed from the end result, ensuring they won’t be held accountable for not listening to you in the first place. Some of this would have been forgiven if the color had been of a high caliber. Instead I left the salon out $600 and an imperceptible color difference in my hair. It is clear the mandate of this salon is simply to make money. Unless you are celebrity you will not be cared...
