Our reviews had over 56 million views in the last 12 months. We do not get paid we just love to eat and have fun. We really love Casa Cruz. We were invited for a dinner party of 20 people with a fixed menu served family style. It was just great. This is an old townhouse converted to a dinner club. Hard to get into without being a member. When you arrive they escort you up the elevator to one of 4 dining floors. We were on the top floor and it was set up for just our party. All staff are in suits or long dresses, very elegant. Walking servers brought some apps and each was great. We sat down at a lovely set table (4 sets of 6 people each) and the food started coming. We had a small amount of each of the 16 items served. All of them were really good. I got some photos of the room and of about half the food because it was so good I forgot to take photos sometimes!!! Suffice it to say that we would go back if invited. I have no idea what it cost because our host paid for it all, but all in all we liked it. We have tried to get a reservation but no phone calls are answered and our emails are not responded to. When I mentioned this to the manager he told me that they try to make it hard to get in, but he did not offer any solutions so we probably will not be back unless invited. It is great, but no restaurant is worth this kind of hassle. If it becomes reasonable to get in we would go back, but until then there are lots of places just as good that love to have us come for dinner. Check out all of our reviews and look at all the photos below. If we do not like it we do no review it so all of the ones you see are places that are fantastic. Follow us if you like. Read moreHad a great dinner here, good food and great location. Till you pay the bill (which you did not ask for) and they kick you out. 30 seconds after we settled the payment, a staff member asked us to stand up and leave, we were finishing our wine, it took us 5 minutes and they came back basically kicking us out. I won’t address the cost of the dinner, it’s pointless but not even a fast food restaurant would ask you to leave. These people should learn how to work with clients and how to treat guests, 1 star is the minimum but I would leave 0 to express how we feel after tonight’s experience. UPDATE: i agree we sat down for more than 3 hours but we did not cook the food not served it; if your time to prepare our meal was long (as you know we ordered many courses since it was a birthday celebration), you should have advised the kitchen to hurry. we did not wast time, we did not go out of the restaurant and came back; we sat down and ate the food you prepared and brought to our table. it's pointless to talk to people who don't want to listen, you behaved poorly and you should simply apologize. You advertise your place as an luxury experience, your behaviour does not align with street food vendors (with all the respect i...
Read moreI was so horrified by the sheer percentage of reviews criticizing Casa Cruz's service and food quality that I decided not to go.
What I was most shocked about were all the reviews about the snootiness, making people wait when the dining room was empty, taking plates away before people were finished, repeating that after agreeing not to do that, hair! so said one reviewer!!!, and poor to mediocre food according to many, is that the restaurant appears to have not bothered at all to correct these assaults upon New York's better-than-London restaurant standards, as I noticed the consistency of the critical reviews has persisted for many months.
What a sham(e) they don't read their own reviews and fix the situation. Who is the manager there?!?!?!?!?!?!?
It seems to me that the beautiful property can be put to higher and better use.
Just to be clear, I, myself, did not actually eat there. However, I simply cannot stand for restaurants that do not fix themselves when free advice is given!!! It takes some nerve to apparently utterly disregard the heartfelt feedback of people who have spent their hard-earned...
