From the beginning, this salon proved to be professional and customer service driven. At first, I called in to inquire about an in-person consultation, and lucky for me, I had Rena on the other line, asking if it would be easier for me to get all my questions out of the way over the phone since I lived in Queens (to save me the travel time and cost). By the end of our convo, I realized we spoke for almost an hour - I had all my concerns addressed - ranging from the specifics of the procedure to the cost charged by each technician. I took a few days to process everything, but most of my time was spent studying the IG pages of each of the technicians, and re-reading previous reviews - at the end, I concluded that whichever technician I would choose, I would be happy. I ended up choosing the 2nd-tier cost (the senior technician) level ($990 for first appt, $300 for touch up). Out of the 2 senior technicians, I chose Mona - looking back, I feel like her name came up in most reviews (like I said, everyone is truly talented and detail oriented based on their portfolios both on the website, and on IG). On the day of, you are welcomed by this elaborate salon: white/marble tiles everywhere, the beloved scent of a pear and freshia Jo Malone diffuser, Venus et Fleur white roses on the receptionist stand and on the coffee table of the white tufted sofa waiting area. Did I mention the crystal chandelier dangling above you? Everything was to my taste - clean and classy. The actual room you are brought into was also very clean with very little clutter (small bouquet of roses and a diffuser on the table along with their portfolio book). Most importantly, let me explain the procedure - Mona at first asked me to provide her a photo of how I typically draw my eyebrows - I found an old selfie as an example. I mentioned that the color of the eyebrow pencil that I used for that selfie was lighter than I like. She mentioned that she had an idea of how to draw my brows, but wanted to compare. I sat down on the patient chair bed, and she measured my forehead with a paper white ruler, and drew the brows with an erasable crayon-type pencil. I provided feedback, and once I was 100% satisfied with the design and the length, we then discussed the procedure. I first came in thinking I wanted microblading, but was not 100% sure, because I liked the powder effect as well. After looking through her portfolio book and talking to her, I finalized my decision on the powder effect. I loved the ombre effect where the front of the brows, closest to the nose, fades into the rest of the brows. I also could not imagine myself with hair strokes since I've been penciling my brows in for years now. She applied a numbing cream on both brows, we waited for about 10-15 minutes, and then she took the cream off of both brows. She started with my right side - the procedure was not painful. By the consistency of the pressure that was applied to my brows by the hand-held tool that she was using, it reminded me of a sewing machine. By the time she got to my left side, the numbing did wear off, and I felt the pressure more â maybe once or twice it was a little more painful than I would have liked, but I was not tearing (I do believe my pain tolerance is pretty good). As feedback, would recommend the technicians to leave the numbing cream on the other brow for a longer period as she works on the other brow. As another point of feedback â confirm the pigment/color of the brows before the procedure starts. I had to ask Mona about what color she was using, she responded light brown, like on the picture I showed her â this is a classic example of when one âassumesâ (I am also guilty of making this mistake a lot of times). I asked her to incorporate a darker hue as my hair is dark brown â the fact that I had to raise the conversational point about the color of the pigment surprised me. Additionally, on their IG pages, the salon advertises their âCappuccinoâ or âChocolateâ shades, but the language that Mona used was âlightâ and âmedium brownâ (lol,...
Read moreI was following Nadia Afanaseva and Eye Design studio on Instagram for a while and was a big admirer of their work. I was considering my doing my eyebrows for a while, and not so long ago I noticed they were posting ads looking for models to do brows, lips and eyeliner. I decided to apply, however I thought my chances were very little since Nadia has so many followers. However, the luck was on my side and I got a response back and invitation to come as an eyebrow model for the class Nadia was teaching. I got very lucky because Nadia was the one who performed the procedure on my brows. She is a very sweet and charming person. I got Powder Effect type of permanent make-up. There were 5 or 6 other âstudentsâ or technicians- they were watching the procedure closely, learning. It was lots of fun! My natural brows were kind of scant, undefined shapes, however Nadia made them wider, with a great shape, that make my face more expressive, with no need to do even eye make-up on a daily basis. I love them! I have not experience any pain during the procedure and no crazy itching or discomfort afterwards. Actually, as I walked out the Englewood salon- I totally forgot that I had something done, until I looked at the mirror :) I told Nadia what was in my mind, and she picked the right color- medium brown, that works great with my skin tone and hair color. I am going for a touch up in the middle of February. Will try to add pictures when healed. I am very thankful for the opportunity and do highly recommend Eye Design for permanent make-up procedures- they are very professional in what they do. I am addicted now and will be coming back as a regular customer. Update! Update! Hi, everyone! I had my touch up for lips and brows yesterday with Aini and I just couldnât be happier! She is an amazing person first and she is extremely thorough and professional with her work. She asked me if I liked the shape and the color or if I wanted to change something, made sure I am ok with everything and then started the procedure. Itâs like an Art for her and I can feel that she was enjoying doing it! My lips and eyebrows came out so beautiful! I Love them! I highly recommended Aini for your permanent make-up procedures- you wonât be...
Read moreIâve applied to be a model for lips permanent make- up procedures and got accepted. My lips are small and I was addicted to lipsticks and glosses to make them look bigger, even at home I was wearing lipsticks, because I didnât like my lips pale and thin. On the day of the procedure I had 2 technicians- in training, Nicole and Beatrice, working on my lips during the training class in Englewood, NJ- new location. Both girls were very kind and talented. Nadia Afanaseva, the Founder, was near by all the time and helped the girls with marking and contouring my lips. Also, she made sure everything looks good at the end. She had several models being worked on and walked around to make sure every student was doing a good job and every model will leave happy. In fact, most of the students were already working in the field, I think, were learning new technics from Nadia- so I felt pretty comfortable with them. The process itself is kind of lengthy, but itâs worth it! They use numbing cream before the procedure and during too. It can get a little sensitive once the anesthetic wears off and I recommend to mention it if you started feeling pain (your tech canât predict exactly when itâs stops working). Once itâs working- there is really no pain, just some pressure. Of course, in the next 2-4 days youâll experience some sensitivity, dryness and slight flaking of the upper layer of the lips- itâs all normal and a part of the process. They will give you care instructions- and itâs really not that hard! Even though it was just a few days and my lips are still healing- I love them and the color is amazing! I like coral shades and I picked a color called Tavel. My touch up is in February. Guy, if you are considering doing permanent make up procedures- Eye Design is a...
