After having a great movie night out with friends, we walked by this place and we were attracted by the aesthetic, the ambiance inside was really beautiful so we decided to look at the menu. The hostess was in a hurry to get out of there, she wasn’t welcoming at all but she wasn’t rude, she was just okay, we requested a table for three and she accommodated us. After looking at the menu the server stopped by and attempted to take our order, he did not even say hi nor welcome, and I understand is Sunday, everyone wants to go home, I get it, but if you are working that shift is because you agreed to do it, so at least try to finish it with decency and be welcoming enough. Anyways, Alex (the server) or at least that was the name he provided, took the order as fast as he could and he disappeared. The food arrived super fast. We ordered Short rib fried rice, the smash burger, the bucatini pasta, tuna crispy rice, and the pizza Bianca. The Short rib fried rice was bland, it honestly tasted like it was reheated, the short rib was tasteless. The smash burger was very average, the bun was too soggy, I understand is a smash burger but it was too much. Also it was bland. The Bucatini Pasta is literally a pasta that a random person would make at home without knowing anything about culinary techniques. The pizza and the tuna crispy rice were the best things, but I have to say that the pizza had too much honey. We had two courses and they never cleaned the table, we were literally eating with crumbs on the table (we were sharing and as much as we wanted to be pristine, we dropped some pieces of food inevitably) meanwhile our server was just chilling at the bar talking to their friends (literally sat at the bar). He approached the table here and there to make sure “everything was good” but he knew that we were not content at all with the service nor the food. We requested the check and once again the did not clean the table and they gave us the check on a dirty table with plates, even when we left the table still dirty with the check right next to the plates lol. Anyways, it’s very sad and disappointing that such a lovely place with a great ambiance has such a terrible service, and once again, I understand it was Sunday night, and I understand this is a place known for being a brunch spot, and although we are thankful that we got accommodated, we were unhappy with the way we were treated and the food in general, we felt unwelcome, if you guys are gonna be opened on Sundays till 11 pm then you need to rise the standards and deliver great service otherwise why would you bother to have your doors open on a Sunday night? And if you are working the night shift on Sunday well, just get your things together and make it work! I will leave all the pics of what I am saying, the server chilling, the dirty table and what...
Read moreTLDR: DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE ASIAN/POC.
Wanted to love this place because the ambience is so cute but unfortunately my experience was ruined by the racist environment and snobby attitudes oozing from this restaurant. I was excited to get my meal but after over 45 minutes of waiting and repeatedly notifying the staff that we had not received our order, (additionally watching 3+ parties sit down, eat, and leave) we still had not received any food and our assigned waitress was nowhere to be found. After 45 min, our waitress finally checked in on us only to ask again what we had ordered, assuring us that it would "come in 10 minutes". This made it clear that she had never put in our order and tried to string us along with a fake time estimate. After an additional 20 minutes, I reached out to another staff member and expressed my frustration, and he assured us that we would not "pay full price", and that our plates were the "next ones out". After 10 MORE minutes, the food had still not arrived and at this point I had to reiterate our situation where we finally got our meal comped. Overall, we had to wait nearly an hour and 15 minutes to get a pizza and appetizer, watching multiple, larger parties sit down, order more food, and finish their meals while we had to wait and reach out to multiple staff to even get our food.
While the staff was eventually accommodating, I could not help but notice that we were the only Asian people in our section and everyone else who received their food with no trouble were white passing. It made me feel incredibly disrespected -- especially when their apologies felt incredibly disingenuous and they would immediately turn around and start joking around with the non POC diners. I had tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but unfortunately I left with a horrible feeling and it...
Read moreFirst two times I dined in, I was pleasantly surprised. Food was tasty and service as expected, prompt. On my third visit, I went in alone and I was so disappointed. I ordered a dish I previously ordered and it came back without the sauce and without micro greens. I didn’t notice immediately bc I was on a phone call and started eating. Once I was off the phone, I realise there was something missing. I checked the menu and I was so disappointed to realised it wasn’t exactly as I remembered or as it was stated on the menu. I mentioned to two servers and finally I guess the manager sat on my table “as if” he was concerned, and he did absolutely nothing about it other than tell me he will let the kitchen know. Even when I mentioned to him consistency is vital for a business and I had been looking forward to this dish. I didn’t get a discount or anything to rectify the problem. Not that I was expecting a discount however, considering the situation. I’m from the east village, been living here for 25yrs. I eat out a lot and not once have I ever had this happen to me. If there is a change to the dish, I am notified before I am served. I’ve never ordered a dish and it wasn’t what was on the menu. I paid my full bill and tipped 20% despite how they handled the situation. However, let it be known, I will never again step one foot in there and give them my patronage or will I ever recommend this place to my friends from the neighbourhood! Consistency is everything in the restaurant industry and so is how a...
