Extremely poor service, and dishonest Host (Hussain).
I was staying at the hotel, so decided to try this place out as it is on location. I do want to be careful in my review, because certainly people have bad days (we've all had them), but the person at the register (Hussain) was particularly rude, unhelpful, and as I discovered dishonest as well.
All I wanted was a salad.. but, my single attempt to modify what was put on it (i.e. dressing on the side) was met with him rolling his eyes and a disgruntled "sigh", because it meant more work, I suppose? For a $30 salad, you'd think asking to have the dressing on the side is not that big of a deal.
But, like I said, maybe he was having a bad day.. no big deal. I still wanted to leave him a tip, and who knows, that might cheer him up. So, when Hussain asked if I wanted to leave a tip I said "yes, and I'll write it in on the receipt myself". The receipt I got was not itemized, so I added a reasonably good amount (not great for amazing service like I usually do), but a good 20% tip nonetheless. Hussain proceeded to put the final itemized receipt in the bag with the food, put it on the counter with not another word, and I'm on my way. It's not until I get up to my room that I discover he also included a 18% gratuity, in addition to my tip amount.
So, well done Hussain.. you got a much better tip than deserved. I still hope that improved your mood, (restaurant work is hard, I know). But, I have a feeling he's done this before, so I'm hopeful that this review makes it back to the restaurant management ownership so that better training is done for the employees.
Oh, the salad was OK.. not $30+ ok,...
Read moreThis was the worst food I had while I’m NYC. I took my mother out and we dined here expecting it to be a nice restaurant. I didn’t realize from the pictures that it was in the basement of a hotel…
It looked like a cafeteria. The server was sweet. She brought out bread and some kind of bland dip for it. I ordered the pasta with squid and my mother ordered the lasagna.
My dish came out and I tasted the squid first and it tasted almost rubbery: the worst part of the dish was that the entire plate was extremely spicy….so much so that I couldn’t even eat it. It felt like the chef dumped a whole pile of crushed red pepper in. I love spicy food but this was unbearable.
My mother got lasagna and it was also spicy and as she took the layers apart it looked like crushed peppers in hers. It was either that or the meat in it was extremely greasy. It looked like crushed taco meat.
My mother picked hers apart and I ordered a flat pizza….. you expect to eat a nice dinner before a show only to have to order a flatbread. That pasta dish was nearly $30 and I couldn’t believe it when it came out.
After the show my mother got back to the room and was so sick all night. She threw up and it was grease. I never saw her so sick. The next day was nearly ruined because this food was horrendous. I would not recommend anyone go here. It is far from the photos online. It’s in a dark basement that looks like a storage room and the food...
Read moreWe had high hopes for this place, especially since the atmosphere was actually quite nice. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The food was absolutely terrible—bland, poorly seasoned, and lacking any real flavor. For the prices they charge, we expected much better quality and taste.
What made the experience even worse was the service. As a couple, we were simply trying to enjoy a nice meal together, but the way we were treated made us feel extremely uncomfortable. My husband was especially uneasy, and instead of a relaxing evening out, we ended up feeling awkward and unwelcome.
Overall, while the ambiance might be appealing, everything else about this place was a huge letdown. We won’t be coming back, and we definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for good food and a pleasant...
