From the moment we stepped through the iconic doors of Delmonico's, we knew we were in for an exceptional evening, and our experience absolutely exceeded all expectations. This isn't just a meal; it's a masterclass in fine dining and impeccable service, solidifying its place as one of the best restaurant experiences we've ever had.
Our starters were a delightful journey through fresh and vibrant flavors. The Caesar salad was a perfect rendition of the classic, crisp and perfectly dressed. The bacon was rich and indulgent, offering a wonderful contrast. The crab cakes were succulent and bursting with fresh crab, with a delicate, non-greasy crust. The tuna tartare was an exquisite display of freshness and delicate seasoning, while the yellowfin tuna was equally impressive, showcasing the quality of the ingredients. Each appetizer was a testament to the kitchen's attention to detail and commitment to excellence.
Moving on to the main courses, we were equally blown away. The New York strip loin was cooked to absolute perfection, tender and full of flavor, a true celebration of a prime cut of beef. The prime rib was equally outstanding, incredibly juicy and served with an au jus that was simply divine. Even the vegetarian options shone brightly; the cauliflower and Parmesan risotto was creamy, comforting, and packed with flavor, a testament to the versatility of the menu. The accompanying sides of creamed spinach and Brussels sprouts were also expertly prepared, each dish a harmonious part of the overall dining experience.
However, what truly elevated our evening to the realm of unforgettable was the service. From the moment we were greeted to the final farewell, every member of the staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about ensuring our comfort and satisfaction. Our server Neno was exceptional ā offering insightful recommendations, anticipating our needs without being intrusive, and making us feel like valued guests. The entire team worked seamlessly to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Delmonico's is more than just a restaurant; it's an institution, and our visit reminded us why it has maintained such a prestigious reputation for so long. The ambiance exudes classic elegance, the food is consistently outstanding, and the service is truly world-class. If you are looking for a dining experience that embodies the best of New York City, offering exquisite cuisine and unparalleled hospitality, then Delmonico's is an absolute must. We wholeheartedly recommend it and cannot wait for the opportunity to return. This was truly a 5-star experience in every sense...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband always wanted to try this restaurant due to its historical significance as āAmericaās first fine dining restaurantā (founded in 1837 by the Delmonico brothers), therefore, I made a reservation for his birthday.
We began our journey there on a chilly drizzling night by photographing the landmarked Cocoa Exchange building (just a few blocks away) which was used as the exterior facade of the Continental Hotel in the John Wick films (Delmonicoās was also used for some of the interior scenes)⦠we are fans of the John Wick movies :) (https://youtu.be/35vbvD5adXk?si=uhABRG5F87xcNHyW). The restaurant treated us with fresh baked Focaccia bread and whipped butter topped with a sprinkle of black salt. We shared the burrata as an appetizer topped with lemon jello, a touch of micro green peas, balanced on top of a cream sauce made with tomato, garlic and nuts, guarded with thinly sliced pear surrounded by a lemon syrup (that Iām learning to make) . The entrees were two 10oz. Allen Brothers Angus, SD Filet Mignons (cooked medium) accompanied with SautĆ©ed Wild Mushrooms and Grilled Asparagus: Hazelnut, Prosciutto and a Hollandaise Foam. Our server was quick to understand our preferences and suggested condiments on the side. Service was quick and attentive. I found the Filetto a bit salty and a lot of black pepper (not a fan), The crispy prosciutto bits complimented my Filetto and I alternated bites with the sweet roasted hazelnuts that filled the palate with a pleasant nutty flavor, a memorable combination to savor. Next, were the desserts; their famous Delmonico's Original Baked Alaska consisting of Banana Gelato, Walnut Cake, and Apricot Jam (created in Delmonicoās Kitchens in 1867 to celebrate the United States purchase of the Alaska Territory). I tend to agree with one of a patrons review, The banana taste was synthetic, donāt get me wrong, it was good nevertheless. I didnāt care for the Chocolate Layer Cake with Cassis Fudge and Malted Milk Ice Cream. When asked, I was told it had cassis chocolate, not knowing what it was, Google comes to the rescue. So cassis is a boysenberry liquor not a type of chocolate lol. If youāre a fan of buttercream (Iām not), it may pique your fancy. I found it strange and salty, but the ice cream was very enjoyable. We absolutely loved the espresso ācaffĆØ ristretto, no need for sugar.ā The service was very attentive, the place was clean, and the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbsolutely Amazed!! For the past 10 years Iāve wanted to try out Delmonicoās on my annual trips to NYC, but up until this year there was always some sort of hiccup that prevented me from going, whether it be not being able to get a reservation, weather stopping me from making my reservation, a world wide pandemic or the restaurant closing down due to conflict with the building ownersā¦so many times Iāve tried and so many times just not able to make it and having to try out another NYC steakhouseā¦which claims to be the oldestā¦.which theyāre not and they left me very disappointed to the point where I wasnāt going to try another steakhouse again in NYCā¦. until I found out that Delmonicoās re-opened!!! This is the spot folks, this establishment is the absolute definition of a fine dining steakhouse, I can now see why they have been around for nearly 200 years!! From the moment you walk in the attitude and service provided is superb!! Lauren was the maĆ®tre d', she gave a very warm and professional greeting, checking my coat and then leading me to table 15, which I now mark as the table that I will prefer for each visit. Then Albert came over and introduced himself as my waiter for lunch along with his trainee. Albert was a very refined gentlemen who you can tell loves serving his guests. As I went to order Albert also gave me a little bit of history on both Oscarsās Wedge Salad and the Baked Alaskaā¦. I also ordered the petite filet and creamed spinach. When I say that the filet was perfectā¦. It truly was, cooked a perfect medium rare , wonderfully seasoned and it was fork tender! The wedge salad was presented in a different way than Iām typically used to but then again this is not your typical restaurantā¦.this is where it was created and it shows and it was excellent, along with the creamed spinach!! For dessert came the Baked Alaska, which Iād never had before but Iāll definitely be ordering it again! I also know that their Chicken A La Keene is an original and I really wanted to order it as well but I didnāt want to indulge too muchā¦. So next time I will try that out! Overall Delmonicoās is superb, fine dining at its best! If youāre in the financial district and want to try out classic New York and a classy fine dining experienceā¦.All my future fine dining experiences will be compared to this one! Delmonicoās is highly recommended and I will now return on every one of my...
