Worst restaurant experience in New York, ever!
I went to Dumont a few months ago with three other people. After being forced to wait outside in the cold for more than 30 minutes, we were finally led to a incredibly small table (even by NYC standards). Not two minutes after we were brought out our drinks, one of the waitress knocked an entire bottle of Diet Coke all over me! My sweater, light colored shirt, jeans, jacket and suede shoes were completely covered. I'll give her a very mild concession for offering to bring club soda to get the stains out, but there was not so much as an apology, an offer to get a manager or to comp my meal. Since I had plans after dinner and being covered in soda is never appealing, I left the restaurant before my food arrived, with contact information to receive compensation for the cleaning costs. My jacket and shoes fortunately did not have any visible damage, so I sent Dumont a bill just for getting my clothes cleaned. After a few exchanges, they agreed to send a check by mail. Cut to present day, and I have still not received anything.
Do yourself a favor and go to one of the millions of other burger joints in Williamsburg. This place is staffed by underwhelming people that cannot handle something that must happen often in a place stupidly small for the number of people they cram in. Oh, and my friends said the burgers weren't...
Read moreWe had high expectations for this place. We were in the neighborhood and several people had highly recommended the place.
First, the service was pleasant, and quick. We decided to sit at the bar which we didn't mind. It was a bit cramped but after the rude girls who wanted to practically sit on my lap left we had some breathing room. And the bartender was great and pretty easy on the eyes.
We ordered an fried pickles to share and 3 DuMont burgers. I'm not sure if all the hippsters in Williamsburg are running around with high blood pressure because that's surely what you get after eating here. Or maybe the the salt is good with the beer....?
The fried pickles were salty beyond belief. It was inedible after a couple bites. The burger was juicy and flavorful if not for the 1200mg of salt that was put into it. The onion rings must have been in the same batter as the fried pickles because after two bites I pretty much gave up on it.
Would I come back again. Maybe but I just might pass and head to Corner Bistro where I know I won't exceed my daily salt intake...
Read moreMy bf's favorite burger place, my favorite soup place. Lol. Well I gotta say they have pretty good burger, but I'm more a soup person whenever there's soup options. Especially for a cold winter day, their creamy soup really warms u up and comfort my heart.
Get there dumont burger! My bf is an expert and picky for pizza and burgers, this is the place he goes whenever he wants burger. It really won't let you down.
We have been this place for bunch of times. I don't think it's warm enough for winter time,I do doubt if they have heater, it's warmer than cold outside but still u don't get cozy warm feeling.
Another thing I don't like is the Asian waiter. Like I said, we have been in this place for bounce of times throughout the year, the Asian waiter is always there and I never seen his happy face. He's always grumpy with his service and always takes our plates away in a hurry even its empty in the restaurant. Makes me feel he just wants us pay and get out of the restaurant. But other waiters or waitresses I have been served there...
