My husband and I had dinner at Florentin on Thursday night and went back for a nightcap at the bar last night. Both experiences were fantastic! Dinner was fresh and delicious. Cocktails were on point both in presentation and taste. The decor is bright and fun but also warm and romantic which is a rare combo on the UWS. The crispy artichokes and saganaki were outstanding appetizers, but my salmon entree was one of the best I've had in the neighborhood. It was cooked exactly medium rare as I ordered and seasoned to perfection served with haricot vert. My husband had the steak and loved it too. The rich chocolate cake with caramel for dessert was a perfect ending. Last night we sat at the bar after a show and had a lovely couple of glasses of wine. The bartender is welcoming and warm and we had a great chat with the manager Sam (hope I'm remembering his name correctly). It seems that something is finally going to work on this corner that has been so many different places over the years all the way back to raccoon lodge. (we've lived in the hood for a long time!) Welcome to the upper west...
Read moreCome for the food: absolutely. The branzino is exquisite. But you'll tell your friends about the schnitzel sandwich, first because you’ve never had it, then because you will want it again at 3 am. But stay for the exemplary bartending skills of KATE, (i think Tuesday-Sunday). I never saw her stop working, always seeming to enjoy each customer individually. Never overwhelmed, never a cocktail gone wrong. But if it wasn't soemthing you liked, i saw her change it and fix it immediately. Also; tough and very pretty. That opinion has not been debated. Great ambiance as well. This place balances great service and drinks with the ever growing overpriced upper west side that is losing both features. Go here. Date, family, friends, great for all; and i saw a married couple in their 70’s at the cool bar laughing together and enjoying dinner and each other. What this neighborhood needs more of.

Read moreThis place is legit a gem, amazing warm service. The space feels very welcoming and comfortable which is rare. It's almost as if they want you to be comfortable while you are eating. We got a cheese dish in a puff pastry, a Florentin salad, the mushroom pasta, and shoe string fries. (Apologies do not remember all the names) We each also got a mixed drink. Everything was very tasty and for the price this place will very easily become a neighborhood staple.
A few quick notes and I hope you don't mind. the fries tasted a little old and dry, the salad included endives which is popular now but the endives were cut into slivers. I assume for the ease of eating with a fork. Endives are nice to eat because of their bite. larger pieces would help with varying the texture. Supreming oranges are a nice touch though but given the size of the salad some more oranges will help with balancing the...
