Okay, so Foxy John's in Midtown East, right? Picture this: you're wandering around, maybe after a long day of pretending to work, and you're like, "Ugh, I need a drink." Foxy John's might just be your answer, but hold your horses, it's not quite what you expect.
Vibes, man, vibes: It's trying to be classy, but in a "my dad just discovered bottle service" kind of way. Like, it's got that "after-work drinks" feel, but also wants to host your company's awkward holiday party. Imagine a chameleon wearing a tie – it's adaptable, but maybe not “stylish”. They've got a balcony, though, which is a major win in the summer.
Food & Booze: Okay, the menu is basically American comfort food 101. Burgers, wings... the usual suspects. They've got a "Foxy John's Burger," which, let's be honest, you're probably gonna order just for the name. The cocktails are where things get interesting. They've got names like "Black Sunset" and "Pineapple Express," which sounds like a good time waiting to happen. Plus, beer and wine, because, duh.
The Real Deal:
The Hype: It's a solid spot if you're stuck in Midtown and need a drink and some decent food. Happy hour seems like a good bet. I heard a rumor about a bartender named Michelle who's awesome. And the portions are supposedly huge, so you won't leave hungry. The Foxy Factor:Honestly, the name is a little misleading. You're not gonna find anything too wild here. It's just a regular bar with a slightly suggestive name.
The Verdict: Foxy John's is like that reliable friend who's always down for a drink, but maybe doesn't have the best taste in music. It's not gonna change your life, but it'll do the trick when you're in Midtown and thirsty. Just maybe ask about the specials...
Read moreMidtown Manhattan bars are all pretty much the same. They're filled with the same corporate folks drinking the same beer and having the same conversations about the market and workplace drama and how nobody noticed that the wrong shade of blue was used on a PowerPoint deck that day.
If you're going to have those conversations, may as well have it in a good place. Foxy John's is definitely one of the better midtown bars. The food is actually good - not casually microwaved like other places in the area. The bartenders try their best to serve people quickly and efficiently (how else are you going to fuel those corporate conversations?). The management is always very accommodating and have given us the upstairs area for several work events, without charging a minimum or a fee. I recommend checking the place out for your next after work gig, whether it's drinks with the boss or drinks with the...
Read moreTried this place for dinner with my sons, our hotel gave us 4 free drink tickets with the purchase of a meal. I didn’t realize it was more of a bar with people just drinking for happy hour. Anyway we sat in the back which was a very nice area to have dinner. The waiter was very rude from Scotland and treated us rude because we were ordering dinner and didn’t want to give us our free drinks. He finally did give us our drinks after speaking with his manager first. I do have to say the food was very good with some of the best fish and chips I’ve had!! The three stars are for the rude server and the bar atmosphere otherwise probably would have given 4. I just feel like staff should be knowledgeable about promotions given to...
