Went in around 7:30pmish on a weekend for a quick dinner because our son's sleep time was approaching. The worst decision in my life.
The moment I ate a couple of pieces of "grilled chicken", I knew that I was gonna get food poisoned. Thankfully, my wife and my son didn't eat it, and they didn't get sick. It took me at least 5-6 days to recover. Retrospectively speaking, the food came out way too quick (not exaggerating, but under a minute or so), and I am wondering how that would be possible.
Beef in Pho that we ordered, had something like purplish tone to it with some characteristics of being undercooked or stale. The bowl was not hot enough to get them to the level of reasonably cooked.
There was this staff (or manager?) in a light-colored parka that kept coming in and out with his smoke fuming out of his mouth. I assume it was the store closing time. He started preparing this cleaning solution in the middle of the store where he started pouring Lysol and Clorox into this yellow mobile mob bucket containing hot water (he is doing this right next to our little son). Immediately, the whole restaurant smells like a public bathroom.
Think twice before you choose to go to this restaurant. All these 5 start reviews must be either paid...
Read moreThe Bahn Mi Epiphany at Hanco's
Today at Hanco's, I had what can only be described as a culinary epiphany. As a long-time patron, I've frequently indulged in their pho and chicken rolls, but never ventured into the realm of their bahn mi. What a revelation it was!
The pork bahn mi was nothing short of perfection. The bread struck an ideal balance - crunchy on the outside, yet soft enough on the inside to prevent any dreaded mouth-roof injuries. Inside, the harmony of pickled vegetables, fresh herbs, and the star of the show – juicy, flavor-packed pork – created a symphony of tastes and textures. Each bite was a delightful journey through the best of Vietnamese flavors.
I reluctantly agreed to share this masterpiece with my husband, a decision I regretted with every delicious bite. The blend of flavors and the impeccable quality of ingredients made parting with even half of the sandwich a near heartbreak.
Hanco's has always been a favorite, but today, they've secured a permanent spot in my culinary heart. This bahn mi isn't just a dish; it's a must-have, a non-negotiable addition to my regular food rotation. If you haven't tried it yet, prepare yourself for a sandwich that might just...
Read moreI’ve tried this place a couple times each time seamed to be worst than the next. 1 time-good broth boring but still better then most pho in Manhattan and close to my work 2 time- hair I pho 3rd- banh mi sandwich, the traditional pork. It had a lot of good vegetables but the meat had to much of an seasoned porky taste that is unappetizing. 4th- I realized what I should have realized all a long. The broth is way to boring and the portions are way to small for $10 pho, they don’t give you much noodles or broth they also don’t have tripe. What they make coast no more then $3 In Materials. They are jacking up the price because it is a hipster neighborhood, hipster don’t really care about food nor do they no good Vietnamese food. It is sad when people realize how to take advantage of people and then choose to do so. Greed is a very powerful thing. I will not be going...
