I just ordered from here via Grub Hub today. Long story short, the ribs were great, The sides were not, the dessert was dessert. I would order from here again the next time I have a craving for ribs but don’t want to cook them and I would try different sides.
The long story… I wanted to order via Uber Eats because I use that service more but it says “too far to deliver.” No problem I have GrubHub+ so I order from there. The prices are the same on each app but I’m sure like most places they’re higher than in store. I ordered a full rack of ribs, single collard greens, single brussel sprouts, double Mac & Cheese, and banana pudding. Oh and two sauces, The Bronx bomber and sweet bbq sauce. The ribs were so good. Nice and tender, good flavor. Tasted good with and without the sauce. I would totally order again! I was full and still wanted to eat more but didn’t, I’m getting that feeling again but I’m going to save it for leftovers. 5/5 The collard greens wasn’t my jam. There was onions in it, I’m not completely opposed to it but it’s not what I’m used to. There was quite a bit of red pepper and vinegar. No need to add hot sauce. This is a big personal preference thing, I could see how some may enjoy this. 3/5 The brussel sprouts were inedible for me. If a small description was included to say “with walnuts and cherries” (I think) it would’ve saved me the horrid taste in my mouth, possible allergic reaction (I’m allergic to cherries and didn’t realize what it was until I took a closer look), and $7+. 0/5 Now for the Mac & cheese I wasn’t expecting my preferred soul food baked Mac and cheese, but when I opened the container and the top noodles barely had cheese on them, immediately something was off. While edible, a sprinkle of salt and more cheese would make a world of difference. My 3 year old enjoyed and asked for more so there’s that. 3.5/5 The banana pudding was cool. Nothing to write home about. Lots of cream, didn’t bite into much bananas or nilla wafers. I’d have to have an extreme craving, no desire to make my own, and no plans to go into the city to get some from Magnolia bakery (who’s super easy recipe is available online) to order it again. My daughter also enjoyed this and asked for more. 3/5. I wish I knew how much sauce was included in my order then I wouldn’t have ordered more. I had a total of 12 small containers of sauce. Idk which was which, but I think there was a single Bronx bomber which was good, and the rest were sweet bbq which were really good. One issue I have is the container size inconsistencies. I ordered single for the two vegetables, and double for the max and cheese. The collard greens and mac & cheese were the same size, the brussel sprouts were smaller. Maybe I got extra of the collards? Idk If I had only gotten the ribs there would be a 5 star rating, unfortunately those sides were all a...

I live in Bronx. There aren’t many smokehouses in this borough so I thought I’d give it a try.
The area where HUDSON SMOKEHOUSE resideds is very nice very young and lively. I feels more like the village (pre -pandimic) rather then the violent Bronx that the media is Hell Bent on portraying. Its a nice clean area that I would recommend anyone go to and visit. The restaurant itself has a nice feel to it. On looks alone its a great place to make a good first impression.
What I’m comparing it to? First off I just want to say that Dallas BBQ isn’t real bbq. I’m comparing this to 3 BBQ stables in NYC that I feel are pretty decent in quality. .
BBQ RESTAURANTS 1.)Hill Country Barbecue 2.)Dinosaur Barbecue 3.)Mighty Quinns Barbecue
These place serve Brisket,Ribs, pulled pork, Mac and cheese and baked beans at the very least.
Their Price ranges are $25-$35 for a good sized meal.
These are not in their ranked order. I just think they all have a pretty solid standard. I didn’t include Blue Smoke because of the price range and because they’re a little more creative with their dishes. I wouldn’t consider it a typical bbq place. But it is very good.
Hudson Smokehouse Review
The GOOD 1.) Mac and cheese was flavorful. Now a lot of people here are used to a very cheesy, oven backed Mac and cheese thats super stringy. This is not that type of Mac and cheese. That being said I thought it was very tasty 3.5 out 5
2.) Baked beans were very hearty. Not to sweet. And just the right amount of kick on the spice. Ham hocks we’re definitely in full effect 4 out of 5
The BAD 1.) Unawareness from staff. I waited in front looking at the meats and menu for 10 minutes and No one engaged me. No one asked if I was finding everything okay or if I needed help. This is just a general rule that all businesses should know. Its worse then not greeting someone. It keeps you detached and discourages you from returning(which they achieved)0 out of 5
2.)Brisket was Dry. To anyone running a smokehouse know what you’re good at and stick with it. This is not the place to get a good brisket let alone a mediocre one. If the sauce doesn’t help you’re in big trouble 1.5 out of 5
3.)Pulled pork Sandwich was good meat quality however this meat was dry as well. It was better than the brisket by far. But it needed that sauce. 2 out of 5
I understand this is a new restaurant but staff has to be on point. Its a little pricey but when you cook good bbq you can put any price you want. Unfortunately Hudson Smokehouse isn’t quite there yet.
Change the the staff, Work on the brisket and pulled pork and...
Read moreBAD food and even more terrible service. We drove here from queens and were sorely disappointed. The place was empty when we walked in and the Spanish woman at the counter didn't address us till we said excuse me, fter waiting for her to say something for over five minutes. She was Texting on her phone. Seriously? That should have been the hint for us to leave but the food did look good so we decided to stay. Well, looks surely can be deceiving. We asked if there was pork in the collard greens and she rolled her eyes and said "I think so". Seriously? We got the mac and cheese, brisket, corn bread, and the burger and fries. The burger was dry. The brisket was cold and grissly. The mac and cheese tasted like it was made from the box mix, and the cornbread was also cold. Cold seems to be the operative word here because the fries were cold as well. We had to ask for, and get our own utensils, drinks, sauce, etc. All went along with attitude and eye rolls from the workers. And this wasn't just special treatment fror us, they were rude to the two other customers who walked in as well. I'd maybe take the attitude if their food was good. But for the trash that we were served and for the price we paid, No thank you....
