Despite their grand opening being on the chaotic side, I'm happy that they opened a new location here in Chinatown 😀. I've been wanting to try out I'Milky for a while now but havent gotten the chance to visit their other two locations in East village and in Williamsburg 🙃. Also, it's nice that there's a burger shop in the back of the store called Burger by day. I think its convenient to have both drinks and food in one location 👍. . I was recommended their Fresh Coconut Taro Milk with red beans to try their fresh milk line of drinks (since their brand... is based on fresh milk) and then the Jasmine Tea Lemonade with bubbles for a more refreshing drink since it was a very hot day 😋 (both with 50% sugar). They both weren't bad 👍. The fresh milk coconut taro was made with fresh taro puree on the bottom and with their fresh milk on top. It reminded me of this Chinese sweet soup that is made of coconut milk, taro and sago 😂 which I like eating, so I'm not complaining. They also had alternative milk options too like lactaid and oat milk, for those who can't or don't want the fresh milk but still want to try the drink 👍. The jasmine tea lemonade on the other hand was indeed very refreshing, but the only thing about it was that I didn't taste the jasmine tea as much as I thought I would.... still good tho 👌 the lemonade part was there 😅. . Overall, I had a decently nice experience here at this new bubble tea location. I will definitely visit again to try their other drinks and pair it with a different burger from the burger shop in...
Read moreI don’t typically leave reviews but this place left a sour taste in my mouth - literally. My sister and I ordered 2 drinks. Hers was the taiwan green milk tea which was tasty and I got the honey green tea which came out sour/bitter. Vicki took our order who I’m assuming is the manager. I told her the drink was bitter and asked if I could get a different drink. Mind you, I had barely taken 2 tiny sips so it wasn’t like I was trying to switch out half a drink for a brand new one. She refused. I asked if maybe she could add a fruit flavor or milk to help with the bitterness. She said no - best she could do was add more honey, so I said fine. The drink was even worse after adding more honey. I asked yet again if I could just get something else because it was honestly undrinkable how nasty it was. She said no. I shouldve just left the drink on the counter. I ended up throwing the whole thing away anyways. Complete waste of $7. I have never been to a drink establishment where they wouldn’t remake a drink if you didn’t like it. I used to work at a boba shop, I know these drinks cost 10 cents to make. Seems like they must be cheap as hell because I also overheard Vicki training one of the guys not to include straws in their togo/door dash orders which is completely ridiculous. Do not go here unless you’re absolutely sure you will like your drink choice because they will NOT switch it...
Read moreAt 242 Grand Street, just inside the door of the excellent burgers-and-shakes palace Burger-By-Day, there exists a slightly hidden and completely separate, different restaurant: A bubble-tea (and bubble coffees) place that is one of the first US locations of the incredibly popular Taiwan boba drinks giant "I'Milky."
I’Milky is a drinks destination that has become insanely popular in east Asia. Try a few of their drinks. They come in many, many flavors - all featuring those chewy 'pearls' of tapioca that you have to chew while drinking - (it's not difficult) ... and you will quickly understand why there are almost 50 I’Milky locations in the better districts of the finest cities from one end of the South China Sea to the other. I’Milky is spreading fast in 5 countries over there -- including over 20 shops on Taiwan alone. What? For bubble tea? Yes: For THIS bubble tea. You see, I'Milky is the best bubble tea in the world. Nobody comes close to their level of quality.
This Chinatown location is one of three so far in New York City. Stay tuned for more. People fall in love with I’Milky drinks. I’ve seen it happen out of the corner of my eye while dining at the adjacent Burger By Day: People line up enthusiastically for their boba-this and boba-that. You’ve got to at least try I’Milky and find out for yourself what all the...
