Read moreThe experience in this restaurant was VERY disappointing. The food had a good taste, however, the service was awful. It was my first time in the restaurant. I started by looking at the menu and asked the server for suggestions. It seemed like the server was not used to provide suggestions and treated my like someone “unqualified” to be in that restaurant. His tone of voice towards me, in front of other guests was very aggressive, making my experience very uncomfortable. He was not able to explain his only suggestion and even though the restaurant was not full, the gentleman acted like he couldn’t tolerate my questions.
Once I ordered and received my dinner, this server didn’t check on me. The one that appears to be the runner was the only one with a smile and focused to provide genuine care.
After all I decided to get up and approached the cashier, which seems to be the host or manager as well. I shared my experience with him, but, while I was talking, he interrupted me and said “ I understand, sir. I’m sorry”. This was not nice. So, for this experience, I think I will never go back to this place.
P.S. And, they...
Read moreThis was a hard review to write, in part because the menu is so large, a second visit may provide a revision. But here goes.... The ingredient quality is top-notch, albeit, a little amateur for hells kitchen. The Asian Jambalaya was awesome; craveably awesome. The skewer grilled chives were undercooked in some areas, as though the kitchen was rushing. The LoMein was decidedly light on protein... actually so was the whole meal. The crayfish with rice cakes were exquisitely juicy and fresh, however, the rice cakes with salted egg yolk were excessively greasy. The Chinese bbq beef skewers were much better than Friendship BBQ in the bowery (less gristle, much more tender, smaller beef morsels), however... the braised peanuts tasted precisely the same as a urinal fragrance pad smells... it truly ruined the rest of the meal... smelling mensroom in the bowl to my left... we will be back.... but.... if you are up for the ride.. friendship bbq in the bowery has a much more eclectic menu...
