My understanding is that this restaurant has only been open for a week so I’m trying to keep that in mind while writing this review
It’s a very pretty restaurant, nice decor, but very cramped. If I had been designing the restaurant, I perhaps would have used square tables in some parts of the restaurant just to maximize the space rather than all round tables, which is very pretty, but maybe not practical. Our table was literally almost inside the bathroom. So there’s a long narrow part of the restaurant that runs alongside the coffee bar and the restroom is there, and that’s where our table was just about 2 inches away from the table next to us and behind us and even closer to the entrance to the bathroom. Very uncomfortable And not very pleasant.
I know everyone who has reviewed before me, is raving about the food. Well, it’s a very nice menu, and they do call themselves a breakfast and brunch boutique which is very quaint. I was there with my daughter who ordered the caviar omelette, but unfortunately, they don’t have a caviar omelette even though it’s on the menu so she switched to the truffle omelette which she said was nice and flavorful. I ordered, the eggs Benedict. Which I literally pointed to on the menu when I placed my order, Along with an order of scones, which had been getting good reviews. The eggs Benedict were terrible. They were on an English muffin, which was about as thin as a matzoh. The eggs were terribly undercooked, and even though on the menu, it said it was served on Canadian bacon with spinach, all mine had was some raw baby spinach, no bacon. The hollandaise sauce was definitely from a package because I could taste the overwhelming amount of sodium. The hashbrowns were undercooked and had no flavor at all. I had to ask twice to get my scones, which were served with a very bad version of Devonshire cream and a decent jam. Unfortunately, the scones which took about 10 minutes to come out, were also nearly raw in the middle.
When the meal was over, the server could see that I barely touched my plate yet she did not ask how things were which seemed odd. She also asked if I wanted to take the remaining scone home, which I said I did, but I was never provided with a bag or a box to do so. No loss, it wasn’t very good anyway.
My daughter and I go to tea service a lot, so I’m hoping that this place improves because it is very pretty inside but needs drastic notes from management on food,...
Read moreHorrible experience. Do not recommend.
Upon first impressions, we had to wait a bit to be seated when there was no one prior at the table we were sitting at.
When meeting our server, she didn’t introduce herself and went right into what we wanted. She was very on edge throughout our sitting and was moving way too fast.
After ordering, I was brought the wrong tea. My partner’s tea was unavailable as was her cocktail. After going back and forward several times, we then got our food (standard afternoon tea). We had to ask multiple times for regular milk, we had to wait for our clotted cream/jam/lemon, and my partner had to wait for her tea. On the only positive note, the tea was fine and the lemon curd was good.
Quality of the food was also disappointing. Our scones were cold and dry. The sandwiches were dry. When chatting with the table next to us, they shared that their scones were warm (they were served after us). It was clear that our food was prepped and sitting out.
In all of this, the staff is clearly frazzled and the manager is doing nothing to help. On her phone, not saying hello to guests at tables when clearly some guests (us) were not having a good experience.
Furthermore, our server was YELLING in the kitchen with another staff member, talking about something related to disrespect. The entire restaurant got silent and the manager clearly didn’t know what to do. A different server dropped plates/cups which broke and no surprise because she was stacking them vs. doing multiple trips.
In the bathroom, the garbage was overflowing and was on the floor.
Lastly, and probably the most concerning was that one of your staff grabbed milk from one of the tables, brought it to the bar, and your manager took that milk and poured it back into a larger jug of milk. That is a massive health code violation (title 24, sec. 81.23, 81.17, 81.09). Milk must be handled safely to prevent contamination. Food/liquid served to a customer cannot be returned to its original container due to contamination.
Massive changes are needed. One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at...
Read moreI came here today for my birthday and was honestly really disappointed. I made a reservation for 2pm.. showed up at 1:50 and wasn’t seated until 2:30. Apparently we had to wait because they gave another party, who came after us, our table because they added more people to their group and the staff was trying to accommodate them.
We ended up getting seated right by the door which was awful. It’s January. It’s cold. The door is opening and closing constantly and cold air was hitting us every few minutes. There were customers coming in and waiting, and they were standing right over us. We could barely move. Also, they put two tiny makeshift tables together for us. The tables could hardly hold anything.
This place was so packed and overcrowded.
We ordered 3 different types of teas and they all tasted the same. The bread of the sandwiches were a little dry, but they were decent. The scones and macarons were good. I don’t think it’s worth $38 per person tho. You essentially get a third of 4 different sandwiches. 2 scones per person. 2 mini macarons, and one tiny truffle.
There were a few birthdays there and the staff sang happy birthday to them. I saw them bring out a plate with a candle for all the birthday people. I did put in my reservation it was my birthday. The front staff wished me happy birthday and gave me a rose. But the waitstaff were so busy trying to get us out of there I don’t think they cared to sing me happy birthday like they did to everyone else, which honestly made me kinda sad.
I couldn’t even take cute pictures because there were customers who were waiting to be seated in the back of all my pictures.
It was not the experience I was hoping for and honestly I wish I spent my birthday...
