Your local neighborhood dive bar. A very happy hour, with a simple yet refreshing variety of cocktails, and regular live music and karaoke events to keep things lively. Yes, the food ain't the best, but you're here for the drinks, the vibes, and the company, not the meals. That's not to mean they're bad - that grilled cheese sandwich hit the spot. A lovely place to spend an evening, whether by yourself or with others.

Lowlands was a great place to host a party! Paul the event planner was responsive and communicative, and Rachel the bartender was amazing. We were able to bring our own food and had a great afternoon!

Best happy hour. Great back patio! Went to a friend's bday for karaoke on Wednesday. They've got some food but you can also bring in pizza from down the block. Cheap drinks. Good vibes and people.

Good neighborhood bar. Bartenders were friendly and efficient although granted we were 2 of 9 people in the place on a Friday night. Draft list had a few worthwhile things (Weinhenstephaner, Pumpking) which is more or less a prerequisite in this area of Brooklyn, but as someone who lives in an area where this isn't the norm, I appreciated it. It's not dirty per se, but not really clean either; sort of dingy looking overall especially with the dim lighting. Other patrons were also friendly as well. Biggest attraction here is the large outdoor patio. This place is a good place to grab a drink in the no-man's-land known as Gowanus but...

Lowlands is a relaxed but classy bar. In such a frenetic city as New York, it is a lovely break from the craziness of many other bars in Brooklyn and Manhattan. There is a fantastic old-time string band music session on Monday nights, and some of the city's best acoustic musicians show up. The crowd is young, attractive and remarkably unpretentious. They have a great beer and liquor selection and some great drink specials for the more shallow-pocketed. The bartenders are friendly and playful and the bathrooms are clean. One of my favorite...

Here comes the gentrification.

Third Avenue in the South Slope still isn't a hot spot by any stretch of the imagination. But if you add up Lowlands, Tano, Draft Barn, and... the place that is just reopening in El Poblano's old spot, all of a sudden there's something going on.

Lowlands is a pretty decent, chill place. Good beer on tap. Friendly bartenders. Turntables and vinyl selection behind the bar. The back yard patio is pretty bare bones, but it works. And on a nice spring or summer evening, there are a lot worse...
