My family had a horrible experience with BKDance Lessons. My husband and I gave our son a $399 gift card for his birthday which he could not redeem because of inexcusable customer service and absurd policies where this merchant is only look out for themselves and not their clients. My son’s lesson was scheduled on a night he had a flight delay. He politely text the studio (the only way they will communicate) asking if they could push his time slot up because of his delay to which they responded no ~ he could either use whatever time was left of his 2 hour lesson that night (2 hours cost $399 which is absurd in itself) or he could take an open spot on the following day because there happened to be a cancellation. Because of prior commitments, my son could not take this spot but they offered no other option to rescheduling his lesson. When he expressed that he and his partner were really looking forward to the lesson and that no other option seemed unfair, BK Dance told him he was not allowed to come to the studio to redeem what would have been left of his 2 hour lesson because they felt threatened. My son is the most polite person in the world and his disappointment was certainly not a threat! My husband and I lost $399 down the drain because of their inability to understand the flight circumstance which was completely out of my son’s control. Zero empathy was practiced and this place is a scam. When I looked more closely after hearing this extremely upsetting story, I came to see that BK Dance is not a real studio, it’s just someone’s apartment in Brooklyn that they push the furniture around in to make a buck and pretend to give a dance lesson. They are all actors. Go on Instagram, to see for yourself; have a good laugh and be happy I saved you the trouble of booking. Anyone looking to schedule a quality dance experience will be wasting their money and taken for a ride...
Read moreI always wanted to do the routine from the final scene in the movie Dirty Dancing for my first dance at my wedding. I knew this would be a difficulty dance to learn so we started taking lessons in January for our wedding in August with a different instructor at a different dance studio. When I told them what we wanted to do they told me they've taught this dance many times and assured me they could teach it. On our first lesson they asked me if we didn't mind changing it slightly. I knew some of the moves looked really difficult so I didn't mind changing it a little, but wanted it to be as much like the movie as possible. So they taught us a few moves like in the movie, but after awhile we realized most of what they were teaching us was a completely different dance. We decided to find another instructor that would teach us what we really wanted to learn. That's when we found Olga at Brooklyn Dance Lessons. She taught us EXACTLY the dance from the movie, with only changing the final lift at the end (I knew that would be too difficulty to learn). We had so much fun learning the dance with Olga. She knew the dance well and was dedicated to teaching it to us just how they did it in the movie. She even spent hours of her own time outside of our lessons watching youtubes of the dance in the movie to make sure we were doing it just right. She took notes after each lesson to remember what we learned and she had a plan for what we will learn each lesson. She seemed like she truly enjoyed teaching us this dance. At the wedding the dance turned out amazing! our guests couldn't stop raving about it. It was the highlight of the wedding! The only thing I regret is not starting with Olga sooner and wasting time with that other dance studio. I highly recommend Brooklyn Dance Lessons for learning your first wedding dance. It was such a...
Read moreI personally am not a fan of dancing and never found it enjoyable; however, I knew my wife always wanted to do more than just a high school slow dance for her wedding day. As a Valentine 2020 gift, I decided to surprise her with dance lessons leading into our July 2020 wedding. After purchasing the package, Olga contacted us to discuss our level of experience, song choices, dance styles, and helped to plan out the lesson schedule so we'd have our own individualized routine ready to perform on our special day. Then COVID happened and threw our well-laid plans out the window. Brooklyn Dance Lessons was extremely accommodating and graciously offered to extended the expiration date of the lessons; however, despite big wedding cancelled, we decided we still wanted to do a small backyard ceremony with our immediate family (and with extended family and friends on Zoom) and still wanted to do a choreographed dance. Olga was 100% on-board and was able to help us create a small routine via Zoom that impressed all of our guests both in-person and online. When we were able to finally have our big ceremony in 2021, we decided we wanted to do another routine and Olga was there again to help us. This time we were able to do in-person lessons and needless to say, her coaching was even better. Her attention to detail and use of visual, tactile, and verbal cues made it easy to learn even some of the more complicated steps in our routine. She was also incredibly flexible with scheduling and did a good job of communicating between lessons. The drive with pictures and videos of our lessons was extremely helpful in making practice between sessions easy. I'm still not particularly fond of dancing, but at least now I know how. I would definitely recommend anyone looking for dance lessons (for weddings or otherwise) to look into Brooklyn...
