This is not your ordinary Brooklyn bodega, although it makes sense to assume as much. From the outside, it's completely nondescript, which is good news for regular patrons. All the usual suspects are here: canned goods, kitty litter, chips and sodas. But the real star of the show is Ishmael, the store's cook. Ishmael makes all the usual fare, such as the bacon-egg-and-cheese-on-a-roll (a virtual food group here in NYC), but it's the authentic Mexican that really takes off here. If you need tacos, you're covered--just watch the line, which can get 8 deep or more at lunch time! The store's patrons represent the full mix of Brooklyn, but it is worth noting that Spanish-speaking locals make up the preponderance of those ordering hot foods. My first clue that the food was good was a line of construction workers stretching from back to front. Ishmael cooks everything fresh, so be prepared to wait--nothing is pre-cooked here. He uses corn (not flour) tacos and tortillas, and though I wouldn't call this place 'dirt cheap', it is hot, fresh, and fairly-priced. A big bistec quesadilla will run you $7, which makes for a substantial meal and a great taste out.

I've been coming here for over 10 years. This deli is serving up amazing Mexican food and more! No matter what time I order, the food is always fresh and made to order. They have the best carnita tacos. I ordered carnita tacos, chicken quesadilla, BLT with cheese and mayo on a roll, a Philly cheesteak sandwich with French fries with cheese. The carnita tacos are packed with flavor, and they are garnished with white onions and cilantro. The chicken quesadilla is delicious, and the chicken is tender and packed with flavor. BLT sandwich was good, and the Philly steak sandwich was delicious. Their green and red sauce is delicious as well. This place serves up some of the best Mexican food in the parksope area.

i can confidently say i’ve eaten through most of the reyes menu. there have been weeks that reyes has kept me alive with their fantastic cooking. the bacon egg and cheese tacos are insanely good. the tortillas are so fresh, eggs cooked to perfection, crispy and salty bacon… what more could you want in the morning? tamales on the weekends have never disappointed. carnitas tacos? yes please. reyes is the superior deli. love you guys!

I started coming to this deli about 2 months ago. I typically call on my way to the store to save time in the morning. This morning, the call picked up twice but hung up before I could confirm an order. I tried calling back multiple times and received "Busy" so the call dropped.

I walk in and say good morning and try to confirm whether or not the cashier received my order. He tells me that I called the wrong number. So I call the number again and guess what, the store's phone starts ringing. So I ask tell him that's the same number I have been calling. He says "I'm not going to argue with you." ??? Huh? I was just confirming for future reference as I go there almost every weekday.

Before leaving I ask him if he can please not address me that way as I wouldn't come to patronize a place daily AND look to argue with the staff. He tells me that I'm attacking him. I do not tolerate this type of gaslighting and I notice his tone with black people specifically. It's unfortunate, but maybe it's a sign to hold on to my money. I refuse to patronize a place that lacks respect for me.

The food is good though...if that's all you care about....

The people who work in the store is extremely racist, there has been several time I have been in this store and would be trying to make an order, and the man would ignore and skip over me to talk to another person who only speaks Spanish. When I say another this man has a little smirk on his face. There have been times I've made an older one and it was wrong instead of remaking the sandwich, the man at the registry took the sandwich with no gloves and added ketchup to my order. Then just smirks at me like I didn't see it. If yall only want to service people of your own kind just say that ! Spanish Speaking Only SIGN ON THE DOOR. And I only buy food from here if I have no other choice and when I do I'm upset at the overall EXPERIENCE. Sitting there watching them by passing my order to serve their Spanish speaking customers first, Not saying anything because ONE its so much stuff blocking the cook, you can't see how their making the food. Scared they'll put something in food, I wait patiently. After today I'll never go in there anymore...
