Decided to stop by what used to be my favorite bakery in the city. To my disappointment, my mom and I were treated with a total lack of enthusiasm despite our kind/bubbly personalities and despite being the ONLY customers in the store. We should have stayed on the long ice cream line next door. If you’re in the area, go there (Venchi) instead.
First off, we had to say hi excuse me for them to acknowledge us after a couple of awkward seconds of them seeing and then ignoring us. My mom asks if they have larger servings of the blueberry jamboree, which you used to be able to purchase an entire pie of. The attendant didn’t answer her at all-just stared. Didn’t even ask her to repeat herself. So I asked again more loudly, to which she finally answered no. My mom and I had a brief discussion about how we should proceed (because we had planned to share this with family), but she didn’t wait at all for us to come to any decision- she was already at the register with one of the smaller slices of the jamboree asking “so do you want this?” Again, there were literally no other customers for her to wait on at that time.
We ended up walking to the register and asking for a few slices of that and a blueberry cheesecake. Got home and unfortunately, the cheesecake was disgusting. Not at all the wonderful recipe I used to be hooked on. Honestly it tasted stale. My mom didn’t like the jamboree either, said it wasn’t sweet and tasted flat. Both desserts were such a far cry from what we’ve ordered from this bakery for years and years.
Again, go to Venchi instead. Don’t ignore the red flags for nostalgic feelings...
Read moreOrdered from Uber eats today at 9:30pm (Tuesday 22nd October) and the staff gave the Uber driver the complete wrong flavour of cake. When the order arrived, the driver said this is what he was given. I complained to Magnolia on the phone and the attendant, he said his name was Richard, on the phone was so incredibly rude, unapologetic, did not say sorry once and did nothing to rectify the situation. He told me to take it up with Uber eats despite it being a fault on their part. I said that’s unacceptable and that I’m a local, loyal customer. He did not offer me anything in compensation or to help me out here, not even an apology. He said the driver is welcome to come back to SWAP the correct flavour of cupcake. Of course the Uber driver could not go back to collect the right cupcake as he wasn’t being paid for this time so when I called the store back to let them know that I can’t get the cupcake to them, “Richard” sighed and was very rude back to me again. He only said “yes it was my mistake” after I reminded him that he hasn’t even apologised once. He then said “at the end of the day you still got a cupcake”, this was such an unprofessional and inappropriate answer for someone in his line of work. Very disappointed in this terrible service and this member of staff is a stain on Magnolia’s brand. I was with my son ahis wife and newborn we went to get some dessert. I asked if I could use bathroom from 2 gentleman servers that were obeying their manager with a hard no . I said can I ask manager they said sure this 26 or 30 year old I'm 67 and recently had health issues so I asked him he looked at me and said No there's a new law customers can't use bathrooms near food Do food restaurants have customer bathrooms yes I said to him this is emergency. He said sorry I can't As I said been going here since they opened. How disappointing went right next door to Mexican restaurant where food serving going on and bathroom is in premise and we're only too happy to help me without even a purchase. Magnolia your lemon bar was also stale which my son bought a couple of do thanks I won't return with that manager hope he never has emergency and gets a hard no the servers were.
