I was a frequent visitor for years and stopped going there two months ago because, while having my lunch, I observed a hostile environment where the waitress M. was bullying and verbally harrassing employees in the kitchen and the delivery person at the counter. The same happened yesterday and I pointed it out to her that it appeared to me very rude and unprofessional. She became very aggressive saying who am I to tell to her what she should and should not do. She said "You are not a client!" Moreover, another waitress was passing by and said "Sometimes they need to get yelled at!" M. then attempted all the tactics to continue the argument, and I said that she is being rude. She continued the obnoxious behavior saying "I do not hear you!" Another waitress was standing next to me and said that it is useless, she is always like that. I complained to the manager on duty, G., who did nothing. While I was speaking with the manager on duty, M. continued to interfere in communication talking loudly, for all customers to hear, that "she heard stories about me". I asked to speak with the owner. I received the response that he is probably sleeping and most likely he will not pick up the phone. While I was waiting to speak with the owner, M. would come back where I was sitting and continue to initiate the fight. I came back in the evening, when the owner was there. While I was speaking with him, she would constantly and obnoxiously interfere again and say for as many people to hear as possible: "I will not apologize to nobody!" The owner acknowledged that this type of behavior happened before, but he cannot do anything about it. I had to leave because he "escaped" to the kitchen and on my way to the exit, M. intentionally stayed by the door and bumped into me screaming "Excuse YOU!" Never again will I set my foot into this place. I refuse to support businesses that breed hostile and harrassing...
Read moreFood was acceptable for a 24 hour diner, but nothing to write home about. Same with the atmosphere. The service was atrocious. Here's what my group of 7 experienced at Michael's Restaurant. After we ordered, the waitress asked us to put the menus back ourselves instead of taking it from us. They never refilled our water. We had to get the pitcher ourselves. The receipts are handwritten and very difficult to decipher. They charge a hidden 3.5% card fee that's never communicated. They're unable to give an itemized receipt due to the age of their machine. As a result, they miscalculated our bill and overcharged us by $10. When I asked them to cancel the credit card charge and redo the transaction, they said they couldn't do that. They tried to offer that us $10 credit the next time we visited, ignoring the fact that we also paid tax and tip on the increased subtotal. When I pushed back, they offered us $10 cash. Only after pressing even more did I get them to agree to cancelling the transaction and redoing it. They didn't immediately try to remedy the issue. During the entire process of resolving the overcharge, the waitress kept saying, "it was an honest mistake." We would've believed her if she had immediately offered to redo the transaction, but I had to challenge her multiple times about not being able to undo a credit card transaction before she got the manager to do it.
I will be monitoring my credit card transactions for the next few days to see if they actually cancelled the first charge. At this point, I wouldn't put it past them to keep both charges on my card hoping I...
Read moreI went here on a Monday morning with my friend after completing our usual run. We usually go back to his place and cook breakfast, but we were attracted to the restaurant's cheap and varied breakfast menu, so we gave it a try.
I ordered a feta omlette with an iced coffee and my friend ordered eggs benedict with an orange juice. The feta in my omlette did not taste at all like feta and may have actually been ricotta cheese. I ended up just eating the toast. The iced coffee was standard quality in a tall glass, though they could have easily gone ahead and asked if I wanted it sweetened, as it is better to sweeten the coffee while it is hot rather than cold because the sweetener would not dissolve as well.
My friend's eggs benedict were overcooked, which eliminated the point of ordering the dish because the eggs in this style are supposed to be a little runny, not fully solid. The orange juice he ordered was paltry, having come to him in only a scotch glass.
Nothing was good about the food. I'm sure the food is better in the afternoons and evenings or perhaps even Sunday mornings. I was involved with my father's restaurant a few years back and my experience taught me that you should not serve what you cannot produce with quality. It would be better for this restaurant to eliminate its breakfast menu if it means that it will be known for a sub-par dining experience. This is really a shame because it has a good menu, fast table service, and...
