They didn’t toast my bagel like I asked, and they charged me for bacon, but I didn’t receive it when I asked for it to be added But overall, the food was fine, but customer service was horrendous. The woman at the counter who takes the orders is so extremely rude! I came in for the first time last weekend and when I was trying to order her behavior and attitude, disgusted me so bad I actually didn’t order and walked out. I came back today, hoping to give it another chance And she was there with the same attitude, but I disregarded her And ordered anyways, but I decided to leave a review because of the way that I saw her treat an elderly man today who orders after me. He was clearly frustrated with the noise and was just trying to order and she was being so rude And was rolling her eyes and looking away from him and it was so disheartening to see an elderly person treated like that. I understand if you don’t like your job we’ve all been there, but people deserve to be treated with respect and shouting at them with annoyance without making eye contact is not it. I won’t personally be back to...
Read moreModern Bread and Bagel has really good gluten free bagels- as close to the chewiness of a regular bagel as I’ve tried. If I were just rating their bagels, they’d get 5/5 stars. Sadly, I went out of my way to come to this location so I could get a few different slices and to try the different toppings, and the pizzas were inedible. I got the margherita, beyond pepperoni, zucchini pesto, and truffle mushroom. The cheese they use tasted really funky like a blue cheese, not at all like mozzarella (maybe it was spoiled?). The ratio of toppings to crust is generous, but unfortunately the flavor profile/balance is not good on any of the pizzas. The toppings end up overpowering the crust and it was honestly nauseating. I could not eat more than a few bites of each slice, and I’m the kind of person who usually thinks even bad cafeteria pizza is good. The crust itself was nice. In the future, I might preorder their gluten free pizza crusts and make my own pizzas. Modern Bread and Bagel does gluten free breads and basic baked goods really well. Sadly their recipes for their items beyond bread need...
Read moreSo before they existed on the UES, it was my favorite place to get a gf bagel. Since opening here, I have only had negative experiences. First, on the day of Yom Kippur I came for a gluten-free bagel, knowing it would be way better than any my family could get for me. I checked their social media all week to confirm they'd be open and have regular business. After waiting on a long line, when it's finally my turn and I ask for a sesame seed bagel to go, they tell me I can't have it. I thought they were joking. They said they wouldn't sell me just a single bagel. Ridiculous... and that should've kept me away, but I came back to try the gluten free pizza. The worker with headphones in his ears could barely be bothered to serve me, and after paying $8 for one small slice of pizza, couldn't even be bothered to put the slice in the oven right away. Once I saw him put it in like 7 minutes later after I was just standing there, I thought I'd at least get an apology or some sort of acknowledgement, but nothing. The pizza was then left in too long and was burnt, bland and disappointing. Will...
