New York Sal's Pizza — Restaurant in New York

I live in the neighbourhood, this was my first time here. Reading the other reviews, they seem quite misinformed. The place is very small, two tables and a three seat shelf on the wall. Service is what you would expect from a hole in the wall NYC pizzeria, efficient and quick. I'm not coming here to make friends. I tried the regular pizza, it is not "doughy" as one reviewer claimed, in fact the dough is a bit thinner than the standard ny slice. The dough was all right, the cheese was right, but I didn't like the sauce much. Then I tried the Sicilian, which as expected has a thick, doughy, crust, again a bit thinner than the ny standard, with a strange consistency that reminded me of frozen pizza. It could be my slice had been sitting it too long. Not enough cheese and the same sauce that I didn't love. Overall this is an extremely average pizza place. We drove up from Baltimore for the motor trend show and decided we were going to hit a few pizza spots because i am a huge fan of pizza, first we hit sals, then we hit royal, and then we hit famous rays pizza and i have to say, sals was the absolute best. Fresh all around. Royal was second best and rays was just blah. Rays also charged us 23.00 for 3 slices of cheese when it should have only been 13.00 and while we were waiting for the pizza to come out of the oven, we went back to the cashier and he said we didn’t have a receipt so we could prove we were charged incorrectly. My last two online orders were made complicated by ineptitude. The first screwed up order, I was given two options, a refund along with keeping the pizza or have the correct pizza delivered and return the other pizza. Last night they messed up again! The wrong order was delivered, it took them an hour to deliver the proper order. To make matters worse the delivery man left the pizza in front of the door! How hard is it to ring a doorbell? I am disgusted with the mishandling of orders, lousy and poor customer service. You lost me...
