Seeing the multiple glowing reviews on Google, I walked in a few weeks ago hoping for an expertly done fade. What I got was a shoddy, rushed haircut, and one of the worst fades I've ever received in my life.
Upon entering the barbershop, I was greeted with a gruff, 'what do you want?' After I clarified I was a walk-in, I was seated with a barber named Bryant (Brian?) who had a similar scowl and acted as if I was inconveniencing him by sitting in his chair. I asked for a high skin fade, and what proceeded was truly an insult to the $45 price tag for the the service.
The cut was choppy, not nearly high enough, and uneven. The initial 'attempt' took just 9 minutes. I voiced my concerns, pointing out areas on the top of my head where the hair was longer and shorter in parts, and the barber rolled his eyes and replied with 'it looks fine to me', but then proceeded with two separate iterations of 'fixing' the initial botched job. After about 10 minutes, I was fed up and just paid him and left, then spent about 20 minutes at home with my own pair of clippers (which I had used during the pandemic) evening out the fade.
For $45, I'd expect more than a rush job and an poor attitude. You can get much better (albeit with similarly gruff service) for $25 or less in Chinatown. I'd say buyer beware, question the 'glowing' reviews found here, and patronize any of the other decent barbershops in the area. Perhaps I got stuck with a dud barber, but I won't be returning anytime soon...
Read moreI was looking for a barber in my neighborhood and came across Art of Fades HK. I read the amazing reviews and booked immediately with Aron. Spoiler alert: all the reviews are spot on and you can't miss booking here.
First off, the location is terrific. Easily accessed from all sorts of public transit. Walked in and its got such a classic barbershop vibe, super clean and well appointed.
Everyone I interacted with was real nice and Aron is such a pro. I got greeted and seated immediately, had some extremely clear communication about the cut, easy conversation. Aron is a super nice guy with next level skills. I always appreciate when a barber can communicate well and also lay out a plan for how to let your hair grow. Aron went above and beyond in that regard. I couldn't have been happier with my cut. Great value, efficient & amazing results. I'll be going back every two weeks for sure. If you're looking for a fade -- this is the spot. Thanks...
Read moreIf you need a haircut, go see Aron and Nick at Art of Fades HK! Both are amazing barbers - but more importantly, amazing people with fantastic personalities.
I have known Aron for years and he gives me a fresh look every other week. The man sure knows how to work the clippers, scissors and blade. Aron is very big on attention to detail and gives clients what they are seeking. All it takes is seeing him once and he will remember the cut for your next visit. He is amazing with clients and has a fun way of making the haircut an experience!
Nick has not cut my hair, but based on what I see and my conversations with him, Nick also knows what he is doing also takes real good care of his clients.
Whenever I meet new people in the neighborhood, I tell them about Art of Fades HK and send them over to Aron and Nick. These guys are cool, and I have a lot of respect for them as they opened this shop on their own. I highly recommend...
