Huge disappointment with my experience at Noz Market the other day. I had called in advance to inform the restaurant that I would be running late and arrived at 6:15 pm with my guest. While the food was great, I was unfortunately disheartened by the service and the way the situation was handled. At 7:30 pm, the waitress came over and abruptly told me, in front of my guest, that we needed to leave as other guests were coming. To only have 1 hour and 15 minutes for a dinner at a fine dining restaurant, especially after paying $500 for two people, felt rushed and unprofessional. I understand that there are seating arrangements to consider, but the way this was communicated left us both feeling very uncomfortable. Additionally, the chef was not the same one I have previously encountered, and there was no engagement or warmth from him, which further impacted the experience. Better options in the upper east side...
Read moreGreat service with quality fish. The staff answered all of our questions and adjusted our order when one of their salmons was out. It was really great being able to watch the chef prepare the hand rolls in front of you too. We got the chuu toro and the salmon avocado handrolls. They were certainly delicious with warm rice, real wasabi, and soft fresh fish, but also quite costly: chuu toro was $22 and the salmon avocado is normally $14 but they were out of the usual salmon so they gave us a fancier salmon for an extra $5. That totalled about $60 after tip for two handrolls.
I’d probably not come back to the market but recommend going to the restaurant for a proper meal and service if that’s what you want! Quality sushi can definitely be worth this price point, but I find it hard to justify...
Read moreThe Noz Market Omakase was incredible! I came here with my girlfriend to celebrate a special occasion.
We really enjoyed watching the sushi chef masterfully craft each piece. My favorites included the scallop, mackerel, and fatty tuna. Also the pumpkin dessert, tamago, and fish broth were delightful!
FYI in case anyone is wondering - there's an automatic 18% service charge and no additional tipping is allowed. This is charged when making the prepaid reservation on Tock as well as on any a la carte items you might order in person. It's a reasonable fee for the excellent service; I just wanted to point this out because I was initially confused whether the 18% fee on Tock was a reservation...
