First time visit to Nur Thai and it did not disappoint. Initially tried to come on a Friday night without a reservation but was packed, but at 6pm on a Monday it was clear.
Excellent service by waiter Darrow; he informed us it was happy hour and made sure to check in and offer assistance when he could. Not overbearing, very professional, and when I left my water bottle under the table he ran out and caught me in time to return it, so kind!
Happy Hour was half off Mocktails and appetizers. The Mocktails all have a beautiful presentation and were about $6 with Happy Hour. The Passion had chunks of cherry and lychee and was delicious - if you don’t like texture though you won’t enjoy it, I needed to use my straw to poke and pick up the pieces. My friend got the Thai ice tea, $6, which came with whipped cream. I was tempted to get it as other places don’t normally offer whipped cream and it looked tasty.
For an appetizer we shared the Golden Bag (4 to an order). The gold shimmer on the rice wrapper was a nice touch and the flavor was full and enjoyable, I could’ve eaten 2 orders myself.
For the main course I ordered the veggie pad woonsen without tomatoes for $14. Other options Chicken for $16 and Shrimp/Seafood for $18. My friend got another noodle dish with chicken. I thought the portion was a good size and enough to be filling, and I’m someone with a big appetite! For the price point and size I was happy. Great flavor. My friend was a bit more underwhelmed by the food but I have no complaints.
For dessert we had the Thai Tea Ice Cream which was so so good! Came with a chocolate drizzle and some whipped cream. 2 scoops so perfect to share and I was extra full by the time we left.
My friend had a $25 Groupon and I paid the difference (about $32 including tip). I’d recommend coming for happy hour to get the deal but also to have a better shot at a table, as it did fill up as the njght progressed. I’ll be back to try more Mocktails and dishes. A fantastic...
Read moreI was utterly blown away by this exceptional experience! As soon as we entered into this picturesque restaurant, I immediately noticed the vases with fresh flowers on each table.
Laura and AdaMarie, our servers were knowledgeable, patient and kind. AdaMarie took us on a journey through the menu and we chose: The fried calamari as a starter, the Green Curry, Crab Curry, and the dessert sampler (2-3) with mango and sticky rice as well as the lava cake with Thai-tea ice cream.
Here’s the breakdown:
The calamari starter comes with a zesty and tangy sweet dipping sauce that elevates the taste of the lightly battered rings.
The Green Curry (shrimp) was rich in flavor. The curry itself was herby, earthy and just the right amount of spicy to make you go “mmm”. Each curry dish comes with white rice so the mixture between the streamed white rice and the curry was a treat!
The crab curry! THIS! WOW! If you are looking to have a new culinary experience and unlock new taste-bud notes and flavors. This is the curry for you. It comes with a boiled sliced egg, blue noodles and a dish of veggies (cucumber, bean sprouts, and basil) on the side. Basically you have to assemble your spoon with all those ingredients and then dip them in the curry. Unbelievable.
The dessert platter arrived on the table and our waitress performed alchemy! She poured liquid on ice and our platter filled up with potion smoke. The mango with sticky rice is unlike anything I’ve personally had before. I loved it! The sticky rice is sweet and pairs perfectly with the tangy fresh mango. Now take the very same rice and have it with the Thai-tea ice cream and all of a sudden you get notes of salt from the rice. What a trip!
All in all AdaMarie, was a wonderful waitress to have, her smile was warm and inviting! The food tastes homey and you can tell whoever cooks it, does so with...
