Heard nice things about it so gave it a try. I tried almost all their available items and flavors.
Their salted egg yolk flavor is unique but that is about it.
Here are the cons and experiences:
1)Very overpriced for area and for fried chicken along with the portion you’re getting. Besides the egg yolk, every other flavor is average, their orange chicken flavor was terrible. Kinda understand why the orange flavor is only in store only.
Their chicken salted fries are decent but the people seem to hate making it. It is made to order. You can’t order the fries on Grubhub or online too. So if you order the fries chicken online, you have to go inside and order a separate order of fries. They don’t offer any other fries right now. Makes no sense
3)I don’t bother ordering the sandwiches because those are kinda rip off. Their bread /bums are nothing special and adding the fried chicken shouldn’t add that much cost.
I just want to place my order of chicken, pay and leave it with the food. The whole interaction should be smooth, polite and quick.
If you’re the owner and you read my review, go install a kisok or even an iPad for in person ordering. Talking to the people at the front or trying to get their attention when they are in the back preparing food or yapping is not a pleasant experience.
The place is also very small so sitting down and eating the food inside is not a pleasant experience. Just eat your food as fast as possible and go. They also don’t have any restroom you can use or wash your hands after eating that oily fried chicken.
I would only come here for the egg yolk when my girlfriend wants some. I’m not coming here alone anymore. Seem to be just another place at Chinatown capitalizing their social media frame and charge the people as much as possible for small...
Read moreIt’s a very small restaurant hiding at the edge of Chinatown on a quiet street. The restaurant is very small only four small tables for two you can sit down to eat. Most people are take out and delivery available on DoorDash too.
I had the chili chicken sando, deep fried chicken dark meat soaked in chili sauce and chili oil, it’s very flavorful but not too spicy. The coating is very crispy. The quarter dark meat chicken is a whole leg, the size isn’t very big. I picked the salty egg option which is $1 addition. I’m usually a salt egg fan but I don’t think it wows me on the big piece of chicken. The food are very oily and they advertised themselves WITH MSG, which it’s fine, there’s no concrete evidence of MSG is bad unless you over consume it. If you have problem with oily food and MSG this might not be your place.
The cashier is super nice, delivered food to my table and even brought me utensils and box tissue that I forgot to grab, the price went up. Isn’t a cheap place to eat...
Read moreOkay experience. The guy at the front was patient and super helpful as we figured out what we wanted. I had high expectations and I don’t think the place was overwhelmingly amazing. I got the quarter chicken and it was a relatively small piece of chicken. The spice and breading was unique and unlike what you can find at other places. That might merit a trip for most folks, though.
I got fries at the side and that was a large portion. Very good fries overall. If you go with someone else and you both order a side I def recommend getting separate sides and trying something else. I additionally got the cornbread and it tasted like the cornbread was cooked the day before. It didn’t taste fresh at all. I went on a Friday for lunch. Not worth the $6.
There are plenty of other places to go to in NYC for chicken but I am curious how the chicken sandwich would taste. Perhaps I’ll return but I am in no rush.
Thumbs up for having self serve water available. A bathroom for customers...
