Pizza Pete's, conveniently located near the Museum of Natural History, is a small establishment with very limited seating. Some might even describe its well-worn interior as a little dingy, but please, do not let that deter you. What this spot lacks in modern polish, it overwhelmingly makes up for in genuine warmth and exceptional food. The staff here are super friendly, creating an incredibly welcoming atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. Their hospitality truly elevates the entire experience, transforming a simple pizza joint into a memorable stop. And the pizza? It is nothing short of superb. Each slice features a delightful crunchy crust, providing a perfect foundation for the generous toppings. It’s also extremely cheesy, with every single bite offering that glorious, satisfying stretch of cheese – a clear sign of quality and abundance. Pizza Pete's boasts a fantastic array of options to satisfy any craving, including classic New York style, hearty Sicilian, and even rich deep dish. This variety ensures there's something delicious for everyone. Coupled with the great food and friendly patrons, Pizza Pete's is a true New York City gem, well worth a visit despite its humble appearance. Let me know if this meets your requirements! Read moreI had some time to kill while hanging in the Upper West Side and was feeling for some quick pizza. Low and behold, I open my trusty Google+ app and Pizza Pete's popped up as the highest rated spot in the area. Located on Columbus Ave between 85th and 86th is where you'll find this small pizzeria. Looking at this place from the outside, it looks pretty much like a hole in the wall pizza joint. The decor is close to non-existent, and there are a couple tables scattered here and there. Nonetheless, it can't hurt to try right?
As far as their pizza goes, I did like the fact that their slices weren't overly salty. The pizza crust and sauce weren't very memorable, as I don't remember how tasty they were, but it wasn't horrible enough for me to remember that fact either.
Price-wise, a plain slice costs $2.75, and a one topping will run you $3.50. I ended up opting for a plain slice and a Hawaiian. The best part? Buy 2 slices get a free soda. If you do decide to dine here, there is a TV that usually has ESPN going on.
Pizza Pete's. Not a bad spot if you're around the block. I could see myself eating here from time to time if I were to live close by. However I wouldn't be traveling here to eat from...
Read moreTonight I ordered a calzone for delivery. Pepperoni and mushroom. It made me very sad! Where was the pepperoni?? The whole calzone maybe had 8 pieces. For reference, the calzone fits on a large dinner plate.
I was so excited seeing the calzone. It was delivered hot, it was not soggy at all, it even had the marinara dipping sauce that some places forget to add.
However, it was loaded with too much cheese. It had a good amount of mushrooms, but all I could taste was cheese and the solution from the mushrooms since they are not chopped fresh.
Even in the centre of the calzone, where you can typically find most ingredients (when places are lazy and do not evenly spaced them out) this calzone still only had cheese and a bit of mushrooms and a couple pepperonis.
Sadly, I will not order a pepperoni/mushroom calzone from here again.
Usually we order pizza from here and have a great experience, but because this review is about the calzone it...
