Let me start by saying i was a hair model for root touch up. Maybe a regular customer would get different treatment, which hasn’t been the case in most salons but maybe here they do. Reached out to Noah through an ad on salon apprentice. He was very responsive and i got an appt for the next day Sunday at 1045am. When i came in i was greeted and taken my jacket. Then i sat down with Noah and the teacher, she asked for my name and tried to say it a couple times and the last time she said it she said “good enough” LOL. WTH! I understand my name isn’t easy but first time I’ve heard that. The teacher’s demeanor was ok, but not the friendliest. They went through what they are doing with my hair, and to get color throughout my hair it would be an additional $10 but just my roots it would be base price. He colored my hair fairly quickly. While i sat there another stylist put her items in my area (large lemon water, glasses, hair spray). I was never offered a drink (water, coffee, tea) and i didn’t see any outlets on the area in front of me, luckily i brought a charger for my phone. And i had the color for 40-45min, probably a bit long IMO but i didn’t time it. The best part of my experience is Maribel, the lady who washed my hair, amazing, so kind, and excellent experience. After that, Noah blew out my hair, he asked me where i part my hair but didn’t ask if i wanted to straight or wavy. Blow out was well done. At the end he also told me he was going to take a picture and didn’t ask me. I was fine with taking a picture but would’ve been nice to be asked. And when i paid i was told cash only which i had but wasn’t told that ahead of time. Overall good experience but those little things would make it more enjoyable. Again, maybe bc i was a model- hope they are more attentive to their customers because I’m sure they’re paying a...
Read moreUpdate: I finally went in for the full cut and color, both with Taylor. I cannot rave enough about how much I love both. The afternoon I left the salon I got multiple second looks, a random compliment, and chatted up by a guy literally half my age. I've gotten compliments on the color every day I leave my apartment! And after the first wash (the real test of the cut!) it looks amazing and is nearly effortless - minimal product if wet or styling if dry (seriously only 5 min) and I'm out the door, feeling and looking fabulous.
Highly recommend Taylor, and the whole experience and results are worth a 5*+ review!
Original review: Talented, responsive, and caring! The stylist fixed another salon's disaster (for free!) so I could continue to grow it out enough for a proper haircut - only 3 weeks to go! I can't wait to work with Taylor again for a full service. :D
Had a terrible experience at Timothy John's salon, and the owner was unresponsive, wouldn't fix it. Went into Salon Ziba to speak with another stylist before trying to book an appointment. Taylor (Stylist) sat me in his chair, offered to shampoo my hair (not needed, though Timothy Johns never even thoroughly WET my hair.) He straightened the crooked back. He did what he could to fix the layers around the face, but due to holes in the cut and weirdly deep bangs instead of face framing layers, he suggested I come back in 3-4 weeks, unless I was willing to lose a LOT of length.
the stylist spent time to speak with me about my hair, what I wanted, and what I actually had to work with. For the first time in nearly 2 months I can wear my hair down again! I will definitely go back to get a proper cut and color as soon as its...
Read moreSalon Ziba on west 57th st has just reopened, and i ventured out from 3 month self isolation to get a much-needed haircut. I went there with some trepidation, not knowing how safe I'd feel. Fortunately, I didn't need to worry, they did everything to make me feel comfortable and actually delighted with the whole experience. My appointment was 7:15pm, and everyone was masked and practicing social distancing. It wasn't crowded. Both the lobby doorman and second floor salon receptionist took my temperature. Then the receptionist covered me with a disposable protective lightweight coat. They had me wait for a shampoo in a separate area about 10 feet away from another customer. There were new transparent shields between the shampoo stations/chairs, and customers were distanced from each other. Melece, my regular/longtime stylist, welcomed me back warmly, and it was comforting to see her well protected in face mask and shield (the other stylists had masks). During the haircut, when she asked me to move the face mask off my ears and remove my glasses for a minute so she could trim around my ears, she said it so gently, "we'll have to do this part together..." that I smiled inside and I figured out how to do it safely. It was obvious to me that Melece and the whole salon team must have spent considerable time working together on how every detail would be handled. I asked her about that, and she confirmed they had zoom meetings to train, discuss and prepare for opening. I'd recommend Salon Ziba to anyone who not only expects great haircuts, but also a safe and comfortable space and operation right now....
