New York is Endless—There’s Just Too Much to Explore!

Exotically decorated townhouse ground floor with Moroccan wall hangings, cushions, cozy booths with low banquettes. Great visual style that the supposedly Mideastern food doesn't keep up with. Hummus had no garlic or lemon bite. We tried a good salmon curry, a large filet with a curried cream sauce. (curry, really?) The Salmon couscous (hoping for a tagine) was another fish filet with some plain couscous and steamed veggies on the side. The Lamb Kofte was a ground lamb patty with some rice and a few plain steamed veggies, but none of the dishes had the pizzazz or ethnic spice we were hoping for. No condiments to add either. So it has great ambience for a party but just so-so continental cuisine. Still, Salam is well priced for NYC, attractive and serves relatively large portions. Could not give it a 5 but a 4 will do for the right customer.

This is a seriously cute and delicious restaurant. Had the Maza for 2, 1 order of their lentil soup, and their homemade pomegranate ice tea - all of which was definitely enough food and had great variety. Sat in a beautiful area that transported me out of NYC. It really does feel like you are in someone's cozy apartment-turned-restaurant and someone is cooking in their home kitchen.. Waitress checked in a few times, but wasn't very warm. I think the food and ambience of this place still make it deserve 5 stars! Can't wait to bring a friend here.

Once of the WORST restaurants I have been to in NYC. If I could I would give this place zero stars. In summary: The Food was very very bad (not edible), the drinks were unavailable, and the service was horrible! I would not recommend anyone to go here. More details below: I am familiar with the way the food should taste and that was not it.... Everything was way too salty and cooked poorly. The portions were small for the price and the quality did not come even close to making up for that. Our food was so salty that we could not eat it. When we finally were able to track down the one server who was working there (on a Saturday night) she just took it away, no apologies or offering to make it up to us or to bring us something different... NOTHING. Aside from quality of food, the drinks were also disappointing: There was no bartender as far as we could tell, we asked if they could make a (very standard) cocktail and they said no, they also did not have any beer or wine by the glass on the menu so we just asked what we could get and ordered that. There was no staff present apart from the one person who was playing all the roles: hostess, server, bartender, manager, etc. We felt bad for her so we were trying to be understanding of the fact that she ignored us all night. We hoped that this was just a one off and not the regular way they do business. We felt horrible afterwards. Such a bad experience. Having eaten such a bad meal and drinks, and paid so much for it! Unfortunate way to...

I ordered the lamb kebab and it was barely seasoned and was laying on a bland plate of rice and unseasoned vegetables. I will say the decor was cute, but when I went with a group of friends, the place was completely empty at what I would consider peak dinner hours. I was shocked to see the prices for the measly amount of food they serve. I have been to other middle-eastern places within walking distance that give twice as much delicious food for a fraction of the price. I was willing to forgive this place for the not so amazing experience since my friends seemed to enjoy their meal, except that once we had already paid the bill we saw a mouse running around the dining area. I won’t be returning and would suggest that if you’re looking for middle eastern food you should allow yourself to expand your search options to an additional 10 minutes walking and I’m sure you’ll find better quality and pricing elsewhere. Total came out to $150 for 4 people and we only got one drink and one entree each with a shared appetizer.. NOT including tip.. go...

I came yesterday for dinner with 4 friends. We ordered 5 dishes to share. I really liked the babaganoush and another dish that had curry. The rest were average. There was a dish that had grilled shrimps that tasted amazing but the lamb sausage was was too strong for me.

The service was slow but really friendly and patient which is great for covid times. We had a couple of beautiful Moroccan tables on the side walk. The street has a lot of cars and ambulances passing by but not a lot of people walking so that's good.

In terms of drinks, we all agreed that none of the alcoholic drinks that had mint really tasted minty. My mango mojito didn't taste like a mojito at all. It was like mango juice with rum and a few mint leaves. So I would improve the drinks. We shared baklava for dessert which was delicious but a bit oily. We ended up spending around $30 per person which I think is pretty good for NYC. It was a...
