Here we go,
The lady that took my order over the phone was very rude but I still let it slide. I then sent a courier to pick up my wife's dominican cake for her birthday but apparently they don't take cards, only cash. So I speak with the lady once again and her response was, well you didn't ask. Really??? I don't work there and it doesn't say that on your website. Talk about unprofessional. Luckily my courier paid out of pocket and was still able to the get the cake for me. He also informed me that the lady had an attitude with him as well. Shocking lol. This is my first and last time ordering from here. Rossy's Bakery nearby is way better but they didn't have any cake's available today, so that's why I had to order from this unfriendly place. Never again and it's sad because with all the gentrification, there's very few legit Latino Bakeries and Restaurants...
Read moreA small no frills family owned Dominican bakery located on the lower level on Clinton St in the heart of the Lower East Side. From what I hear, this bakery has been here for a very long time. If I had to take a guess, I would say at least 20 years.
When you walk in you will notice that this place is super small as in it looks like a small narrow hallway. The interior looked like nothing has been changed since the 1980s-1990s. It's very clean inside and the staff and owner are very friendly.
They carry birthday cakes, pastries, cookies, flan, pudding and the list goes on and on. They have a grill so they make all kinds of delicious sandwiches. A favorite of mine is The Cuban. They also have fresh hot empanadas ready at all times. They make custom cakes also. The prices here are super reasonable especially...
I wish I could give more stars because the cakes I’ve bought in previous years were always very good, the flavor, the texture, the meringue everything was great. A few weeks ago, I ordered a tres leches cake, and when we opened it to eat, it had a strange smell. We noticed part of the meringue looked discolored, so we removed that part, thinking it was the issue, but the spoiled/funky smell remained. When we cut into the cake to eat it, we realized it was the milk or filling that had a bad odor. We couldn’t eat the cake, and I didn’t go back to return it because the bakery is too far from us. So we decided to buy one from another place instead.
Please, you are one of the best bakeries I’ve ever had cake from, so I ask that you take more care and preserve the quality you once had. A mistake like this could lead to a bigger issue if the ingredients are spoiled and someone eats a cake that could...
