This review is an accumulation of many visits to this establishment in my neighborhood over the years.
The quick summary of it is, I fear the quality has been going down dramatically with each visit.
I would say the first few times I was here, it was very good. 4.5 star for food, about 3.5 for service. I've taken plenty of friends here, because it works for many diets, it has a few options for flexible seating situations, and it was good food.
Well, service progressively got worse with most subsequent visits. Most of the time, they ignore you, other times they look a bit irritated to be asked for anything. I get short staffing is an issue in the food industry right now, because I own a shop in the same industry myself. But the attitude is really unnecessary and reflects poorly on the restaurant. I get bad days, but this has been trending lately for many months to possibly most of this year. Oddly, for some reason the service we’ve received by the men are far worse. The service by their female staff are friendlier but they forget things. It’s just a curious observation—I personally have no preference for wait staff and gender.
They're frequently out of one of their highlight, the cheesecake.. I think it's called kaif? Which is a bummer when you tell your friends it's the best thing and it's not available. It should probably be taken out of the regular menu and added to specials of the day when it is available.
The food has also gotten progressively worse. Dinner is better than brunch. I would avoid their brunch from here on out. Their shakshuka was inedible. It was overly spicy and not the flavorful kind of spice. It was too tart, and overall not much in the way of aromatics.
Their cauliflower Caesar had waaaaay too much vinegar in it, and they forgot to give us the Caesar dressing on the side even though we requested it three times. Alas their ignoring tactics at an extreme.
Their cold brew was much too bitter, and undrinkable.
Overall my latest visit was a 0. The food was bad, the service was kind of insulting, and they didn't have what I thought was their best dish.
If I weren't in the industry myself I would give this place a 1 star based off of my last few visits but maybe they're having a tough time right now.
Or it's possible they just don't care. I'm not sure I will be visiting again anytime soon, even though they're so convenient. I might pop in time and again to see if things improve but I'm reluctant until they've had a bit of an attitude adjustment.
Seems like they're doing ok anyways so they don't need...

It came highly recommended from friends, so I gave it a try.
We had a party of 8. Arrived at our reservation time 5 minutes early, we didn’t get seated for 35 minutes. Because of that, the moment we sat down, the server rushed us to order for last call. Flustered, we ordered everything at once. Everything came out completely arbitrarily, some were eating their main courses before others received their appetizers. 3 of the main courses were completely forgotten about. Luckily, we reminded them about 45 minutes after we had ordered that we were still waiting on these three dishes. Everybody else at the table had finished their meal at this point. We waited another painstaking 30 minutes for what would turn out to be the single worst shnitzel dish I have ever ingested. The one thing I was looking forward to throughout this experience was the side of mashed potatoes that comes with the shnitzel dish.
Of course, the dish was completely void of mashed potatoes. Then, this is a good one, owner stopped by the table and handed us 3 orders of cold French fries and said “I gave you guys free fries because of the wait”
In reality, they were not free, they were in place of the mashed potatoes which they could not furnish for some reason.
We received the check to find everything still on the bill, to the penny. Not only that, they took the liberty of including a 20% tip, just to stick it to us even further.
When I mentioned I was a bit surprised to see everything was still on the bill after all of that, the owner said “you don’t like it? Dont ever come back here”
That’s exactly what I’ll be doing. If you’re in the market for good Israeli food in the area, you’ll be better off at 19 Cleveland.
0/10 - worst middle eastern restaurant in NYC
*important to note, none of this was any fault of the servers who were...
Read moreI would not take anyone for a meal here nor ever eat here again . Horrendous “hospitality” and greasy food make for a horrible birthday brunch A brunch for 5 was $300. Yes $300 and I couldn't even get what I wanted which was eggs , imagine that they couldn't make eggs . The owner Rhobbie was hovering over me explaining his chef refused to make then and then he ordered for me even though I asked him for just 5'minutes to reconsider because the kitchen would not make me their signature dish ironically called Shoo shoo eggs or breakfast , their signature dish . " the kitchen won't make it for you " ok buddy then don't pressure to order something I don't want like fried chicken which is what arrived with something greenish. I would never return here due to the over priced "food" and the annoying manager or owner who would not get out of my personal space . I think because I was eating with 2 people who had told him they had lived in Israel he thought since we are Lansmen he could walk all over me . I would never treat customers in such a way and I've worked in hospitality for around 25 years . The food made me nauseous after and I hardly even ate it anyway . It tasted horrendous. And the BO smelling owner who insisted on hovering all over me right inside my personal space wouldn't even give me 5 more minutes to make up my mind and pressured me into ordering some I did not want and was not edible. I just wanted eggs , other ppl at my table got eggs but they wouldn't make them for me . I got some greenish looking slime and some fried grease that was gross . Buyer beware . I'm sure Rhobbie thinks this is the way to push people around in America like he can do elsewhere, but the food and hospitality was horrible and buyer beware . I wouldn't spend a dime there again . I'd rather give it to the local homeless who keep coming by for some spare change...
