I was passing by and wanted to grab a drink, so I searched on Google Maps and came across this 5-star-rated spot. I decided to walk in without a reservation.

As I was checking out the menu posted outside, a male staff member with a noticeable mole near his lips greeted me. I asked if they had happy hour, and he said yes before leading me to a table. The bar was almost empty, with only two white women seated there, and the rest of the tables were unoccupied. Yet, he placed me at a corner table right next to the liquor storage area. At first, I didn’t think much of it, but I quickly realized what was happening as staff kept walking back and forth to grab drinks from the storage.

Not long after, another customer—a young white woman—walked in, and she was seated at a window-side table. I was stunned. Was I placed in the corner because I asked about happy hour? Or was it because I’m Asian?

It’s hard to believe this place has a 5-star rating. Service like this is not worth any tip, let alone my time or money. If I had known I’d be treated this way, I wouldn’t have set foot in this place. Absolutely disappointing....

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the newly opened wine bar restaurant with an Italian atmosphere. Nestled in a charming corner of the city, this offers a captivating ambiance combined with a curated selection of wines and delectable Italian cuisine.

The attention to detail in recreating an authentic Italian atmosphere was impressive. The knowledgeable staff was more than happy to guide me through the different varieties, providing recommendations based on my preferences.

Complementing the superb wine selection was the equally impressive menu. The Italian cuisine served here was a symphony of flavors that celebrated the country's rich culinary heritage - expressed in its most simple and authentic way

The ingredients used were of high quality, and each dish was thoughtfully prepared, showcasing the chef's skill and passion for...

We visited Sorso’ for the first time on an early Saturday evening and had a wonderful experience overall. The food, drinks, and service were all excellent. A special highlight was the chef, who welcomed us personally and offered thoughtful wine and food pairing recommendations—such a memorable and personal touch.

One area we feel could be improved is the acoustics. The space is beautifully designed and intimate, but the hard surfaces—glass, mirrors, and flat walls—create a lot of noise when the restaurant is full, making it difficult to fully relax or hold a conversation. Adding some sound-absorbing elements, like acoustic panels to walls or ceiling, would make a big difference in enhancing the overall dining experience.

That said, we highly recommend Sorso’ for its outstanding culinary and service offerings and look forward to...

One of my new favorite spots in NYC! The staff (Christian and Caesar - hope I spelled that correctly!) are exceptional in figuring out what to pair the wine with whatever food you like. Great for those who enjoy the “choose your own food/wine adventure”! The ambience is great for a 2nd/3rd date and the quality of the food is excellent. Sorso’ offers a great break from the Manhattan hustle and affords you an opportunity to connect with the people around you in a more intimate setting! For the people who struggle to read in more intimate settings, the table lamps are exceptional at keeping the mood while giving you the ability to read the menu without having to whip out your phone light! I honestly wish this place great success.
